Obviously we ended up scoring and it broke in our favor, but what is the rationale behind leaving that much time on the play clock?

No rationale. Maybe it was about keeping the offense in its usual rhythm vs. slowing it down and ******* up the offensive flow.

Probably the most frustrated I’ve been all year. I was literally screaming and couldn’t understand why we were hurrying...

Actually I was not mad at that. It's simple we had no trust in our offense that we were going to score on the drive. So we wanted to hurry up and have time to get the ball back if Syracuse scored.

Also, Syracuse only needs 1 minute to score so it wouldn't of made too much of a difference. Plus we were catching them off balance because of up tempo they wanted us to slow it down and get in our heads. It worked great and am happy they did it against Syracuse, any other offense it would of been real bad

That's exactly what it was. I wasn't in favor of it, but if given the choice of scoring a TD or giving them the ball back with 1-2 minutes left and them needing a FG or even a TD to WIN the game, I'd take us scoring the TD early. Syracuse clearly thought we'd run the clock down because we were imposing our will on that final drive.

To be fair they had a whole game leading up to it to try being in rhythm and look where that got them. Take your time, run the clock down, and ice the game.

This is your answer. Like it or not, we aren't a slow, methodical, pounding offense. We rely on tempo and rhythm to move the football. Better to keep moving the ball and get a score than drain clock and not score.

This. Put points on the board when you can.

That was honestly what I was leaning towards. I was getting heated every time we snapped the ball with 15+, but for whatever reason as the drive went on, I had more confidence that we were gonna score.

For one we needed to leave time on the clock Incase we had to score if Syracuse went ahead

Also play conservative is what gets a team beat.

Plus trust your team. They have proven all year they can handle the big moments

Correct. If we have a power run game, then bleed clock. Our zone run is greatly helped by a d line that is still trying to get set and gassed. Just how team is built. If you try to bleed clock to zero, they have time to substitute, get set and proper defensive calls. I don't like our zone run blocking, but it gets the most out of what we have. When we have an OL full of Donaldson's we run out the clock. Still getting there.
