Our future QB vs Memphis

there’s a lot to work with there and i’d take him for sure, but his footwork is a disaster. gotta get those lower body mechanics better in the offseason

There’s people here only want him because he’s a SFLA guy. But others go the opposite way. They’d feel better about him if he was from say Texas. The bias can be pro and negative. I think it’s a risky take , there’s mechanical stuff that needs a lot of work including his feet. I also wish he’d use his legs more to run. He’s a pretty good long strider that can use his wheels to get out if tough spots . Also pulling at the mesh to keep de’s honest . The hanging the ball late does bother me. Like all the other qb’s he has his flaws and is far from a finished product . He needs work. There’s things I like and others not so much.
If Bailey wasn’t from South Florida, less people would feel salty. “Cast a wide net” “if he wast from South Florida, we wouldn’t want him”.

There isn’t a perfect prospect out there this year. Last year it was Mateer. Yes he was injured but he has not been impressive this year.

If nobody is going to develop Bailey then yea, it's probably not the best option. But if we can develop him then I'd be 100% on board. I think the potential is really high. And by develop I mean just get him to the next level he seems to be right below.

Announcers calling Bailey a future Heisman candidate while this thread trashes him.

Doesn’t mean either side is right or wrong. Time will tell. But an interesting dynamic given recent events.
these dudes dont know how to pick a qb to save their life....i just skim over most of their observations.

Its mostly just whomever they believe is THE HOT NAME OF THAT WEEK...

CJ Baile would have us in the playoffs next year imo if he came and stayed healthy

i'm telling you CIS just like I posted last year with Mendoza, Bailey is a stud, only getting better, and is playing behind a bad OL.

He will get drafted high when he leaves college.
It’s not about the OL. It’s decision making and knowing what he is seeing.

Nothing he did today made me feel any differently. Memphis was awful.

Plenty of these guys have arm talent. It’s the other stuff.

Both Cam and Beck had very high football IQs. That’s a big deal. I don’t want to sell him short but I don’t see who he’s played where he has had to exhibit it in the ACC.

Do you have an AI agent set up that whenever Bailey is brought up you have the bot swoop in with your cape and hold water for him?

I just can’t get beyond the way he performed against ND and us this year. He throws off his back foot almost every time he throws. This offense is so predicated on ball placement, anticipation, and being on time. I just don’t know how will hold up against the types of defenses and coverages we expect to see in the playoffs at this school

He won’t come in to this team and have the same affect as Cam and Beck. He’s simply not there.

mestamaker plays ina sh*t conference in a gimmick offense. CJ Bailey numbers would be through the roof there too
And yet he doesn't have as good of an arm, doesn't make nearly as many high level throws and turns the ball over like 3x more than Beck does...
Like oh boy what a high completion percentage against bad defenses though! He's fine. That's it

As you said all these guys have physical talent . The great ones process quickly which is huge, secondly are decisive , third have great anticipation and lastly great ball placement. There’s a reason this position is so hard to evaluate , you can’t read somebody’s brain. Well not yet.

I think there will be other guys who hit the portal. It's already been a crazy portal season.

I'd bet there will be someone hit the portal that shocks everyone.

I just think there will be better than Bailey

Nope it’s a fact. Whoever we get at qb will have nothing to do with what we do in the playoffs. Just got top portal qbs back to back years without playoffs nothing I’d

fact there were two top QB’s and then some 24/25. This year not so much. A lot of younger guys with potential, I.e, this thread. All I’m saying is winning in the CFP enhances your chances for QB1. And that’s my opinion. And they’re like A**holes bc everyone has one, as you know well.
