Seriously, this is the best overall the DL will look in over a decade and a half and will be IMO the best pass rushing DE's we've had since 91' & 92'.

EVERYONE on D will benefit from the threat of GR & Roche. Our DT's will definitely owe those two some steak dinners on them for all of the low hanging fruit coming their way.

If we are lucky enough to make it to the ACCCHGM, I expect to get worked over by Clemson again, but the only thing that gives me a tiny sliver of hope is the constant pressure that we would put on Sunshine. And, I believe the Tigers lose some top performers on their OL. Meanwhile, back on planet earth...

Look, it'll just be fun to watch a Cane DL dominate week after week! I think we all deserve it after the crap we've had to endure for the better part of 2 decades.

I don't know about that. I like where we are with our DEs but I don't see a difference maker at DT. For this defense to be a truly great Miami defense we need to see one of the DTs develop into a dominant player. The team from two years ago that dominated had dominant play from McIntosh/Norton.

Looking at the current crop of DTs who has the combination of length, power, athleticism, technique and twitch necessary to be unblockable one-on-one?

We ain’t got no Sapps or Kennedy’s tho
Look at our DT's in 91 and 92. No one was dominant those years, but the overall scheme and those ferocious DE's made those two of our best D's of all time. True we don't have the LB's , but with a ridiculous pass rush, the math on the overall effectiveness for the DL can work.

OP was slurping Diaz for most of the year, and then was pretending to hate Diaz after the FIU game.

I guess that with the latest staff moves and new transfers, the OP has stopped pretending to hate Diaz.

Heard those exact same words last year, when Trevon Hill enrolled

We are not getting a lot of production out of Ford and Silvera, which is puzzling.

None of our DTs put up big numbers last season, yet we finished #17 in rush yards/gm, #11 in yards/rush, #13 in total yards/gm & #18 against the pass.

In 2015 we finished 101st against the run, and our DTs put up better numbers than last year's group.

My point is that it doesn't really matter much how many numbers our DTs put on paper. They're doing their job containing the opposing team's offenses.

Except that is not true. You got much better production out of McIntosh and Norton in 2016 and 2017 and even with Moten and Bethel as backups. Same with Willis. If they are consistently getting doubled team, then that is okay because it keeps a guard or center out of the second level. We need improved play at tackle. Ford and Silvera have underperformed.

Agreed. Harrison-Hunte and Blisset have the measureables and athleticism to be elite but are behind in experience and technique. They will learn and contribute this season but I don't expect dominance from either in the 2020 season. Nesta lacks length and the conditioning to have a consistent motor. Ford takes a lot of plays off during games. I've watched Ford stand up at the snap of the ball and lean on OL, giving minimal effort. He flashes but lacks consistency. Miller has good upside but is raw and needs more snaps to develop. His length and power are intriguing. I like his get off more than I do Ford.

I agree that Ford and Silvera could/should do better...but they are the least of my worries entering the 2020 season.

We gave up an average of 309 yards per game in 2019. Better than both 2016 (345) and 2017 (362).

No proven DTs at this point.

We have the best DL rotation in the coastal period.

We also have a better DL rotation than anyone on our schedule currently.
Clemson may get the nod in the ACC but who knows? If the three youngsters from last season develop like Miller did then I think we are all going to be very happy.

Y'all have to realize how delusional you are to compare our potential 2020 D-Line to one of our championship caliber D-Lines.

You guys really think we have the best D-Line in the ACC? I think Clemsons national championship D-Line might be A LITTLE better.

Our Defensive tackles get absolutely no penetration. Even tho we rotate like 34 tackles in, none of them make any impact.

Along with the tackles, the ends have no technique besides a bullrush. That's enough to get Rousseau some stats, except when teams go spread/up-tempo and he becomes a ghost.

Even in the past few years with Norton, McIntosh, and Willis, when we played REAL teams, they absolutely ran our guys over.

Not to mention our D-Line practices against our terrible O-Line.

As long as Mannys Gimmick defense is being ran, expect the same results.

Ford, Silviera and Miller all shined at times throughout the year. Call me an optimist, but I really like their potential for 2020 and think they can make a formidable 3 man rotation.

our 2017 and 2018 dlines were overall better than the 2020 one
