Lol @ gauging coaching from reading message boards, especially Ohio State ones

The BFD is the amount of money O$U invests in their football program. Their stadium, facilities and budget are second to none. We can only wish. Urban leaves, Day takes over, Kevin Wilson moves to OC and they hire Yurcich as QB coach/ PG Coordinator at nearly 1 mil a year. Even you should be able to see the difference!

I don't need to read boards, my nephew is part of football ops at O$U!
So your nephew said he was a nice guy and this is now a big loss for OSU? I read message boards since that gives access to reactions across the fanbase.

I think that gives better perspective into how a coach is viewed compared to a desk jockey inside the program.

Their defense was reasonably bad comparative to how they usually play. Their Rose Bowl MVP didn’t play until the 8th game of the season, and that’s only because he was the last guy standing. That falls directly on Grinch since he was responsible for their DB’s. As am said he also wasn’t a strong recruiter. He brought one 3 star into a program that is known for producing first round DB’s.

He may work out well for OU, and he did a great job at WSU, but he did not perform well at OSU. You can chalk that up to Schiano’s doing, but Grinch doesn’t seem to escape all of the blame.

Saban will get out soon, Bama is the only premier program with a dude in his mid 60s running the show. It's a young guys game, look at Bob Stoops and Urban, both out. That being said, Lincoln Reilly is a star.
Lincoln is one of my favorite coaches in the game.

Are you aware they replaced their entire DB? Also, you have NO idea how a MAJOR, ELITE college football machine operates. You might want to spend less time on message boards and more time listening to some people that might know. Check what Football ops does at Bama (They have multiple ex Head coaches breaking down film for example. **** Saban even brought in DJ Durkin to analyze film for the OU game. We are way behind the times when you talk ELITE programs. BTW, the desk jockey makes 125K a year and is directly involved with day to day football ops especially recruiting!. Stick to getting your scoop from The Ozone!

He didn’t run the defense, schematically he and Schiano are completely different. Safety play dropped off a bit statistically and they also didn’t have their best player on any side of the ball the majority of the season. Bosa effecting nearly every play completely changes that defense. Bottom line OU zeroed in on Grinch and went out and got their guy. I’ll take Lincoln’s eye over your Buckeyes message board analysis 24/7-365

Maybe Manny is waiting to get the approval of the CIS expert posters before naming his OC!

He knew he had a superstar head coach on his staff. Plus look at the guy, he looks happier than a pig in shxt.
Bobby had a **** of a run, produced 10 head coaches from his staffs at OU including Riley, Huepel, Leach, Wilson, Mangino and Pelini to name a few. Compare that to our staffs in the past 18 years and you see what we need to do to become elite. It's all about the program and we have a lot of catching up. Hopefully Manny is the guy, just like when OU hired Stoops and 2 years later in 2000 won it all, although UM would have beaten them but they sent FSU to the title game even though the Canes won the head to head matchup.

I guess Lincoln didn't check the Ohio State messageboards or poll the Buckeye fans!

“I have a lot of mutual contacts and people I trust in the business who have worked with Alex, and they all speak highly of his ability to not only be one of the best schematically, but also a guy who will help build the culture that we want and expect here at Oklahoma on the defensive side.”

Haha what do you expect him to talk badly of his new hire? Get over the fact that because your nephew liked him doesn’t mean he did a good job at OSU.

What does their ability to hire coaches and analysts have to do with the fact that he was not as productive at OSU as he was at WSU? Sorry I take opinions of people that aren’t paid by the university. If that were the case Richt would still be UM’s coach.

And OU is going to value his time at WSU over OSU and there’s nothing wrong with that. I fully believe that he will be productive at OU, but that doesn’t mean his latest stop was good.

OK, you listen to people on message boards and I'll listen to people directly involved with the program. Additionally you have no idea what quality control or football operations staffs encompass, probably didn't know they exist. BTW, I read on another board that Popeye will be our new S&C Coach!

Nephew, you haven't said anything that we can't read on message boards or google.
