Imprisonment to the moment begets insanity, and this might seem insane to some.

However Oregon’s history is complicated, despite only becoming a state in 1859.

Civil war is an amorphous term that describes hundreds of conflicts outside of the American Civil War proper, its not a political term and the truth is that without this war American history is irreparably worsened. We should celebrate the Civil War, right?

The other truth is that it was illegal for blacks to even live in Oregon until 1926. Its founding and post-CW history is shameful and disturbing. Further more —

Ah crap, I’m supposed to delete these threads, not fuel them.

All state laws banning blacks and other minorities were invalidated by 14th amendment. If you mean the state did not technically remove the racist law from the books until 1926, then that would be correct. Oregon was bound by the 14th amendment like any other state. Blacks, Chinese (also band other minorities were legally allowed to live in Oregon from 1868. No doubt many people were racist and hostile even after the 14th amendment, but your statement was factually incorrect. Blacks could legally live in Oregon after 1868.
