the GT disaster, would anyone have expected different this season?

Seems like it has been FOREVER since Miami has beaten quality teams (at least roster wise with Texas a&m and Clemson in the same year).

Is Mario a good coach? No. He’s average, but he’s a great recruiter and you can SEE THAT on the field and his track record. His coordinators are also solid, specifically Guidry as that was a slam dunk hire.

We look bigger and faster at most positions compared to one year ago. Most importantly though, this team doesn’t quit, which is very noticeable compared to last year’s team.

Keep winning and we will see what happens against FSU. Go Canes!

(also F*** the ACC and their **** poor officiating)

I couldn’t watch the game like I wanted to since I was at work. What other coaching blunders did MC do this time?

Mario is starting to make Butch Davis look like a game day god. I admit that. But coaching is much more then 3 hours a game a week. So can we find a middle ground and say he is a below average game day coach, but a superior non game day coach? I mean clearly this team is bigger, tougher and more resilient then anything we have seen in a long time. That doesn’t happen by accident on game day.

Just way too conservative at the end of the game. 80 seconds left and TO. No reason to try at least one or two shots to get in FG range. Playing for OT was very suspect. Especially considering Clemson’s offense was hot garbage in the fourth quarter.

I thought Dawson should have featured the run game earlier. I liked Mario’s game/clock management. Zero complaints with not trying to run the hurry up at the end of regulation.

He chose to play for overtime and won the game in overtime.

Also the mouth breeders on here were having a fit because Dawson orchestrated a 9 minute drive that ended in a TD with 8 minutes left.
Choosing to play for overtime in that circumstance is foolish. The team was completely unprepared. He’s fortunate to have won despite his ineptitude and I am happy for the kids.

Last time an awful gameday coach won anything of significance?

I don’t agree with his decision but it was the right one. A pick 6 and we are setting up swat at his house

" this team doesn’t quit, which is very noticeable compared to last year’s team"

This 100%
Even in the two games we dropped we didn't quit. They came down to the end.

Ehh idk about that. Plenty of reason. Who do you trust more at that moment in the game. Emory Vs that Clemson D. Or our defense and run game.

Hindsight is 20/20. It was a frustrating call but honestly the right one

that's not true necessarily. it was ultra conservative but not foolish, as proven in OT

Clemson had 5 yards in the 4th quarter. we absolutely dominated the second half. the risk of us forcing it, Clemson getting the ball back and winning it in regulation outweighed his belief that we would wear them down in OT

Still no TE in the Dawson offense.
After the 30 yr old dropped one that hit him in the chest that was the end of that. Really wish we got to see a fully healthy Arroyo. Expected big things from him. Maybe towards the end of the season. Can't imagine what a TE receiving threat would do for this O

recruiting is part of being a coach as is player development and these kids have improve significantly until his coaching.
his game management will never be elite. the guy went 35-12 as a full time HC at Oregon. this isn't like hes a bum

facts ... emory had not experience ... we lined up and played tough football

Emory was the hot hand at that point. Had a good connection going with Young. In the moment, I didn’t like the call to play conservative. But sitting here hours after the game ended it worked out. Obviously I wouldn’t have just tried three shots and left them time but at least make Clemson have to make a play. Our kicker is a real weapon. It wasn’t like 50 yards were needed. 20-25. Just nitpicking really. The team executed a good game plan for the most part.
