the CFP committee will pick the five highest ranked conference champions.

SEC
Big 12

but let's say Duke actually wins the ACC. Do you think the committee will forgo ACC champs and take JMU (Sun Belt) and or the American Conference winner (UNT or Navy)?

I certainly hope so in that scenario. Would serve the ACC right.

I heard a great way to avoid that potential disaster. Go with the best record and then the 2nd team is whoever is the highest ranked. The winner of that game would likely never be behind multiple G5 winners.
