Hey, why don't you suggest they donate that new room to couple couple thousand of our peace loving Muslim refugees our beloved leader is bringing over. I am sure the city of CG would just love it. Pike is suspended until Fall 2017 I believe. As far as the house, it was open to bidding for the other fraternities on campus. Im pretty sure Alpha Sig is the one who won the bid for the house but they're also getting suspended pretty sure. Its a mess to say the least.

I'm a UM Pike from the late 90s. Heard Pike owns the property but the fraternity will not be occupying it. Travesty. UM hates fraternities, make no mistake about it. If they could get rid of them all tomorrow, they would.

Can't believe how many fraternities and sororities have disappeared from that campus since I was there. Over half of them are gone.

PiKA is not dissolved - they are suspended. I believe AEPi was the last frat removed from campus and that was in 2004. And it's more than just serving alcohol to minors - there have been multiple cases of severe alcohol poisoning and drink "tampering" that has put kids in the hospital. (AKA, liability suits anyone?)

Regarding your original points - the Coral Gables community is more at fault than the university itself for most of this. Do you realize how long it took to get the new apartments built on the south side of campus? CG residents HATE the university and refuse to budge an inch on expansions. It's a huge part of why I laugh any time someone asks why we can't have an on-campus stadium. Even if we had the space (we don't), the traffic/tailgating alone would put CG residents into a furry.

You can blame the university for a multitude of things, but not this.

Hospitals make money, medical practice and medical school don't do so well. Overall Uhealth/MSOM is twice as big as the rest of the university.
