OTH Podcast: DJ and Romberg calling out our leaders

I get what they're saying, but sometimes it's good to get away for a few days. Think about this. Once Memorial Day passes in May, these dudes grind all the way through, hopefully January Natty Game or at least top notch Bowl Game without coming up for air. I mean they straight up put in work all of June and July just to prep for August to January. My 1/2 cent worth.
Should be grinding all the time the real world doesn't stop, a good lesson to learn with whatever it is you are doing in life.

Doing too much honestly, hate when old heads talk like this like they weren’t out enjoying themselves in college tbh at that age

That’s not what DJ said. They enjoyed themselves. Hard. Listen to the podcast. There was accountability back then. There was a expectation of greatness. You really think DJ and Romberg are really that old? C’mon. They know a thing or two about winning. Players should be obsessed about winning after going 7-6. You sound like a pussified Millenial, and I’m not much older than you.

It's a different time. I doubt any team across the country is all staying around during spring break. DJ and Romberg are just making themselves sound old, IMO.

That was also a unique group of guys, to say the least, with "leaders" up and down the roster. **** with that many alphas, I'm surprised it worked as well as it did.

Those comments presume that the kids that "went away" didn't do anything over the break. How about those who went home and worked with trainers, etc at their home gyms? Or worked out with friends/players on other teams ALSO home for break??? Or went to "camps" with professional coaches/trainers? That doesn't count because it wasn't on campus? Or those kids who took a couple of days to get away and came back to Miami and did just what they are preaching?

Times have changed. Kids and families do things differently. shouldn't be presumed that there is less desire to win. sometimes I think some of these "old heads" get carried away.

Sure seems like the team was ready for practice when it started....

Listen to the podcast. How much training are you really doing in the DR or Mexico? Some of our best players went outside the country. DJ even explained, you want to be physically ready for that first practice or you’re going to be struggling. In addition, you just went 7-6, there has to be some form of accountability from our leaders. It is said, championships are won in Spring, and you want your team unified busting their ***. Not divided. In other words, you have to be obsessed with winning and he feels we aren’t there yet.

They are 100% right. The culture here sucks.

Those teams from 98-03 were full of guys who wanted to work.

You think Dan Morgan and Ed Reed were out partying during spring break?

Don Soldinger:

“A lot of the work ethic and the values that these guys here tonight - Greg, Bennie - had is not there now,” Soldinger said. “It’s entitlement. It’s where’s the easiest place to go, where are they going to take care of me, what are they going to give me. Kids need to go to work and stop with ‘me, me, texting, taking pictures [on their phones].’”

They sound ridiculous, who says the ones that left for spring break didn’t workout? Dudes trying to relive their glory days by ****ting on current players. SHUT THE FVCK UP

DJ lost 4 games total in his 4 years of wearing that jersey. And if a certain ref had not stolen the title from us in 02' and if we had a competent QB in 2003 he might have only lost 1 game. And he made himself a nice living in the NFL to boot for 10 years. He can say whatever the **** he wants.

DJ lost 4 games in 4 seasons at Miami. We need that formula.

It’s about NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS at Miami. If our current team would’ve lost to Clemson in the title game last year, old heads would still be chirping about something. This years flavor is 7-6. Wash, rinse, repeat with the new flavor of the month as to why young people are not as hard working as the previous young people. This is the 2019 version of “I used to walk 10 miles to school..........in the snow”.

If they had the magic formula for success while they were in college, wouldn’t they have won 4 national championships? IJS
So you dont consider bringing back a program from sanctions, getting robbed of the chance of playing for the title in 2000, winning it in 2001, and playing for the title again in 2002 a success?

Maybe they're on to something when with what they're saying?

It’s a different day then when they played.
Yea, we had a good team when they played. With talent so close with top tier teams, things like staying and working while the other colleges kids party is something that will set them apart positively. If you want to be great, do what nobody else is willing to do. If not "go play inter murals brother"

I hate this narrative. These guys act like kids are supposed to be football robots. What about coaching and development? You see once Manny became the DC, all of a sudden the defense started performing at a much higher level.

If these guys weren't about hard work, then why do we still have guys making it to the league?
