I’m listening to OTH Podcast, DJ and Romberg are calling out our “leaders” on this team for allowing players to travel (leave Miami) during Spring Break. They preach that in their day, the team leaders didn’t allow anyone to leave for Spring Break because they had to work to prepare for Spring Training. They worked and partied at night during Spring Break.

DJ feels this team doesn’t want it bad enough to win. Does he have a point? Are these boys soft?

By leaders are they calling out football players? Or Manny and Co? Some of the kids stayed behind and worked, not all left and went back home or elsewhere. I get their point and yes, it would’ve been nice for most of them, if not all, to remain behind and work on their craft. But these are young men, not all are going to prioritize football over life especially at such a young age where if you recall, the world is your oyster. Too much other stuff going on, especially during Spring Break. I’m not advocating for nor against Romberg and DJ, or the kids. Just pointing out thought processes on both sides.

They got a point. Probably should tighten it up. But it's on the guys who want that NFL bag to put in the work

If they want to be the Canes of glory then they have to be those Canes. If the new Miami doesn’t put work above alll and out work everyone else like those old Canes did then all this TNM stuff is just bs and we are in the same place we have been. We won all those late games against noles because our players worked harder all year and had some left in the final minutes. I try to never critize players. It is they decision. If they want to be The U or Suntan U.

They make good points. They balanced work/life(Partying). It's all about how bad you want it in life and football is no different. Thanks OP, episode 17 & 18 are great

They were 7-6 last year. Bad coaching or not that’s unacceptable, the upperclassmen have to be leaders, but kids nowadays have other options so to them football is not life or death!!!

Those comments presume that the kids that "went away" didn't do anything over the break. How about those who went home and worked with trainers, etc at their home gyms? Or worked out with friends/players on other teams ALSO home for break??? Or went to "camps" with professional coaches/trainers? That doesn't count because it wasn't on campus? Or those kids who took a couple of days to get away and came back to Miami and did just what they are preaching?

Times have changed. Kids and families do things differently. shouldn't be presumed that there is less desire to win. sometimes I think some of these "old heads" get carried away.

Sure seems like the team was ready for practice when it started....

I get what they're saying, but sometimes it's good to get away for a few days. Think about this. Once Memorial Day passes in May, these dudes grind all the way through, hopefully January Natty Game or at least top notch Bowl Game without coming up for air. I mean they straight up put in work all of June and July just to prep for August to January. My 1/2 cent worth.

This. They were a 7-6 disgrace to the UM jersey last year. If they had come off a great season I don’t think the old heads would have went in that hard. You don’t get the benefit of any doubt after a season like that.

YES soft and cuddly

Until they can prove otherwise.

Outworking your opponents simply works....no matter when you do it. Back in the day or now.

It's not the only way .....BUT its a proven way

They sound ridiculous, who says the ones that left for spring break didn’t workout? Dudes trying to relive their glory days by ****ting on current players. SHUT THE FVCK UP

Those old heads that you're referring to are the last ones to achieve glory at Miami.

That was what made Miami successful - outworking everyone else.

Training together, pushing each other and doing on-field drills on their own time is the difference between 7 and 10+ win seasons. The coaches only have so much time with them, so the leaders running on-field sessions are important.
