FSU fans are all excited about their new Head Coach, Willie Taggart, and think he's going to be the Next Big Thing. But as the legendary Bill Parcells once said, you are what your record says you are. So gather round Hurricane fans and let's examine Coach Taggart's record.

Taggart began his career in 2010 with Western Kentucky in the Sun Belt conference against big time teams like Georgia State, ULM, South Alabama, and Coastal Carolina. He coached the Hill Toppers for three seasons and amassed a record of 16 and 20, and never coached in a bowl game.

In 2013 Taggart accepted the position of Head Coach for the University of South Florida. As a member of the American Conference, Taggart matched coaching wits against power house programs like Tulane, Tulsa, SMU, UCONN, Navy, and UCONN, and compiled an impressive 24 wins compared to only 25 defeats in regular season play. He also coached the Bulls in the Miami Beach Bowl against his former team, the Hill Toppers of Western Kentucky, where he was soundly defeated by his successor in front of a South Florida home crowd.

After four seasons at USF, Taggart became the new head coach of the Oregon Ducks, a program that is most notable for being the most mediocre team in the Pac 12, outside of two good seasons with Heisman Trophy finalist quarterbacks, Joey Harrington and Marcus Mariotta. These two good seasons were separated by more than a decade of more mediocrity, and neither occurred with Taggart at the helm. Instead, in his lone season as Ducks head coach, Taggart returned the Ducks to mediocrity with a 7 and 5 showing. It's unclear whether he intends to add to his postseason defeat total by calling the shots when Oregon goes up against 10-3 Boisie State in this year's Las Vegas Bowl.

In summary, Taggart is:

47-50 in 8 regular seasons
10-31 against teams with a winning record
1-5 against Power Five teams with a winning record
0-1 in Postseason play

Willie Taggart's record says he's a bum.

That's good stuff! Jimbo won a natty, had top 5 recruiting classes year in and year out, and also beat us 7 years in a row. NO WAY IN **** this guy comes anywhere near that level of success!!

Blah blah blah.

JJ was a middle of the road coach at OSU, went 52-9 at UM.

Saban was a middle of the road coach at MSU, now He's considered the greatest CFB coach ever.

McElwain had a winning record at CSU, He just got fired.

Butch Jones had winning records at CMU & Cincy, He just got fired.

Sumlin had a winning record at UH, He just got fired.

Bielema had a winning record at Wisky, & He just got fired.

Jimmy Johnson had 3 winning seasons in 5 years in a division that featured Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, Missouri, and Texas A&M. Keep his name out of your **** mouth when you're talking about these other bums.

LOL...now you wanna shift the narrative from overall record to "winning seasons"...LOL.

Well if that's the case, Willie T. had more "winning seasons" than JJ before He got His first job in the majors...how ya' luv dat?...LOL

Jimbo struggled to beat Golden, those games were close while playing 3-4 prevent defense.

Taggart is a good recruiter, you failed to mention that Oregon’s recruiting class for 18 is ranked 6.

I love it just fine because I didn't limit the narrative to just "winning seasons." Willie Taggart coached at Western Kentucky and USF against zero competition and had a 40-46 record. Jimmy Johnson coached at Oklahoma State against teams competing for and winning National Championships and had a 29-24 record. Now stop being stupid, or if you just can't help yourself, go be stupid elsewhere.

24/7 has it 8th, but whatevs. The only one he actually signed was ranked 19th. Still not bad, but he's going to do at FSU what he's always done. He's going to lock down the 2* and 3* recruits that Richt, Kiffin, Davis, Mullen, and now Huepel don't want. He's going to scoop up the occasional 4* guy who can't qualify academically at Miami. And he's going to bend the rules until he gets caught trying to squeeze a few guys in the back door.
