OT: XFL starts today - Miami Players

I’m not gonna lie, I love this so far. It’s only been a half, but they set this up nicely. Having good refs is nice, sideline interviews, good TV deals, good players. This is meant to last. Love the kickoff rule too, much safer. I do like hearing the coaches and also the 25 second playclock is a cool rule

I could do without the forced interviews.

I've been watching the DC game. I'm impressed. Exciting brand of ball. Cardell Jones looks like he can sling the rock.

I'm interested to see how the Miami players perform.

I like it, it’s definitely different. It would be nice if they gave the players a second to catch their breath though lol

Different isn't always good.

Some guys are meant to be players. Some guys are meant to be commentators.

As a fan, i tune in to watch the play/talent on the field and listen to the breakdown. I like hearing the play calls and some of the on-field communication to know more about the play. The rest feels forced and is unappealing to me.

There are trying too much. This can get old with the microphones in their face. But overall, it's good

Definitely more watchable than their first try at it. Seems competitive, fast paced and I like having the coaches mic'd up. The immediate interview with the players on the sidelines I could do without, but I'm enjoying the games more than I expected. Funny rule about if the kick off doesn't go past the 20 the team gets the ball on the +45 and the extra point choices make it a bit more interesting too.

What rule are you a fan of, that u hope the NFL adopts?
Specifically the kickoffs, every single aspect of how the play clock is used, the double forward lateral, and honestly the way they do points after TDs I'm a huge fan of

great game. hope they are all like this. hopefully they play in these type stadiums that hold 20-30k, mostly MLS football teams (soccer to the intellectually bankrupt). these stadiums are much more intimate

For any of these leagues to succeed they need good QBs.

The rest of players are decent enough that when playing against non NFL 2 deep caliber players, it appears like pretty decent high level football.

The issue is QB. Any QB with a pulse is in the NFL and even so there are plenty of guys getting NFL checks at the position that are incapable of even looking average if put into an NFL game.

The QBs who are in these leagues are pure garbage outside of 2-3 guys. They cant execute the offense properly and it leads to very boring football from a fan perspective.

What the XFL or any other new league needs to do to have a chance is go after veteran NFL backup/#2 QBs. Guys who have gotten some game time and have been competent but are in the 2nd half of their careers and know the window to win a starting job has closed. Try and match salary and offer the opportunity to be the man and make the same money they would riding pine in the NFL.

If any of these leagues could attract 5-10 NFL caliber backup QBs in the back half of their careers it would be interesting and produce high enough level of football and execution that it would captivate a large enough audience for longevity.

I agree with this

I enjoyed the DC/Seattle game. I thought it was good football. The rule differences aren’t so much that it doesn’t feel like real football. They have a legitimate financial backer unlike the AAF that was just winging it hoping to get enough funding to make next week’s payroll. Plus, outside of the quarterbacks the players are only making around 50k for the season.
