Was in the semis of a tennis tournament Sept 30th. (Up f_ing 5-0 in second set) "snap!" (Or "pop", or both) and my right knee is ****ed.

Won last game on one leg, had to default finals, and basically, 24/7 pain, extreme, couldn't walk, etc. This went on until Monday. Almost four weeks of constant excruciating pain. Couldn't sleep for more than ten minutes. Doctors said Meniscus, and probably worse stuff.

Had MRI last monday. This Monday, before orthedpedic visit, I wake up, and ZERO pain. No pain, whatsoever. Ime it never happened. I bebop to appointment, and the results were a grade 3 Meniscus Tear, and a bunch of grade 2 tears on things that I never heard of, and sound made up. (Radial tears, lateral tears, anteriors, etc)

Well, dr. Says he can't believe the pain stopped, and I had full motion, could jump, etc. Says to come back if it goes bad again, to hear surgical options.

I'm taking MRI to my Canes game buddy (who was the Canes Football radiologist for ten years) to review.

Anyway, I started serving yesterday, and no pain at all. Hit this morning, and I'm 100%. Gonna start training for State Closed Championships on Nov 10th.

Anyone know a grade 3 Meniscus Tear? Is this normal, 4 weeks of total disability, and then immediate full recovery without treatment?

I was scared. This was my first knee injury ever.

BTW, anyone use Solinco Poly strings? OMG, tried them for that tournament, and Its a monster! I was literally bouncing kick serves over opponents head for aces. Hit him in face once, the serve just rocksts off the court. Best stuff ever

Yeah get a second opinion.
Knees and spines can be tricky.
I doubt anyone is going to operate on you if you have no pain and are go 💯 with no issues.
You may have some chronic issues that your body has worked around. However don’t be surprised if Father Time has something to say about it later on.

I tore lateral meniscus in HS preseason soccer. Scope surgery. Running in two weeks. Wasn’t fully recovered for contact for about five weeks but did play at three.

Thanks guys. Hit today on hard courts. Was kinda careful. No pain. Gonna go easy this weekend, and start training for tourney on Nov 10th.

Sucks, I had to withdraw from State Clays last weekend. Guy I beat 6-0, 6-1 in early Sept. Won it. :(

BTW, the pain went from a 9/10 to a zero when I stopped wearing a Mueller compression brace. Wore it before injury, (I started playing again after basically a 20 year layoff in June) Knees were always sore, so I always wore the braces.

Never again. They don't prevent injury, and seem to cause all sorts of problems for me.

It's my serve. On hard courts, my left leg, after point of contact, is at a horrible angle, foot pointing sideways parallel to Baseline, while my body and right leg is squared up facing net. Pics of my serve Look absolutely horrifying. (I begin serve like McEnroe, feet pointing 90 degrees back away from baseline, back facing opponent. ) gotta split step and jump into serves more. That Solinco poly, strung at 40lbs, enables me to hit twice as fast with half the swing power, so I can work around stressing my knee.

******* knee injuries are the worst. Don't want one again.

Kenneth’s father is an orthopedic surgeon.

If you’re in the NY/NJ area you should pay him a visit.

I have no idea what you’re talking about but it seems highly inappropriate for a football message board.

Grade 3 implies a high grade partial or full thickness tear. You may have had a displaced flap or bucket handle meniscal tear that then slipped back into place thereby relieving your symptoms temporarily. Grade 2 sprains or tears are partial thickness injuries that are typically treated conservatively.
