OT: UFC 242 Khabib vs Poirier

He is going to wreck him, but if he is the best grappler/wrestler you have ever seen you need to watch more wrestling/grappling.

Think it's going to be another easy one for Khabib. Dustin's been taken down by lesser grapples. His upright stance, high guard and preference to fight at shorter range make it look like he'll be an easy target to get taken down. Add onto that that he doesn't have **** you knockout power.

I don't see what he has for Khabib.

Pretty sure he's referring to MMA fighters. To that point who would you have higher?

As far as grappling goes, just off the top of my head. Jacare, Maia, Nogueria, Nate and Nick Diaz, Sakuraba, Royce, Rickson, Royler.

Wrestlers. Way to many to name. Yoel Romero, Kevin Jackson, Mark Schultz, Matt Lindland, Daniel Cormier, Mark Coleman, Mark Kerr, Randy Coutoure, Dan Henderson, Ben Askren, Brock Lesnar, Kevin Randleman, Koscheck. There are plenty more grapplers and wrestlers who are better as well.

Khabib has world class sambo but him training with Cormier at AKA took his grappling to another level. I think, in part, why he is so dominant is because he cuts down from upper 180s to 155. He really should be fighting at 170. And if he was fighting at 170 he’d be great but not dominant like he is at 170

Being able to cut weight like that is an important skill to have. It is like having a good vertical or good 40 time in football. A lot of people can't cut like that, they don't have the mental fortitude. Some guys can do it, but don't have the energy to compete or train.

That said, I agree Khabib is a great grappler/wrestler, but he is not even close to "the best to ever do it in the UFC".

You clearly aren't talking about MMA grappling.

Who on that list has showed the level of domination with their grappling in MMA as Khabib?

Some of the people on your list have a shout. But the majority of the ones you mentioned shows we're clearly not talking about the same thing. I can't respect your opinion on this one buddy.

Where I think Khabib excels (takedowns) is his chain wrestling. Watch his fight against McGregor to see what I am talking about. Too many times in MMA wresters bail after the shot.

Dustin's performance against Holloway was the best of his career, IMO. If he can somewhat keep the fight it on its feet, he unquestionably has a chance. But that's a massive IF. Khabib isn't just winning every fight, he's pretty much dominating every fight. His ability to lock with his legs and control on the ground is phenomenal. Dustin has the classic puncher's chance, but I see a relatively easy victory for Khabib.

I clearly am talking about MMA grappling. Literally all of them have shown more domination than Khabib did with their grappling. He would get smoked on the ground by any of them p4p. You don't need to "show dominance" to be considered the better grappler. If the greatest grappler in the world comes into MMA and has such poor hands he can't get anyone to the ground, he is still the best grappler.

You don't need to respect my opinion on this because I absolutely do not respect your opinion on this one. Nobody refers to Khabib as the greatest grappler/wrestler in the game. Not even close. I would bet you never grappled/wrestled in your and just take whatever the announcers say to gas up the fight as fact.

Khabib his skill is he is the only one that can maul and pin guys down cause hes super powerful and can pin one arm and 2 legs. Hes ahead of the game and he punishes guys because he is just way stronger then them u can tell the way he rag dolls dudes that hes super powerful. I dont watch mma or am a geek to it but the only chance for him to be beat would be Tony Ferguson who will probably get his *** kicked, if there were a Jon Jones LW type then Khabib would lose to a Jon Jones type.

@JBCanes-NC has a Khabib tattoo over his heart so I'm sure what his pick will be.

Kabob is the clear favorite but I'm going to go poirier. He has great cardio a great chin a solid jujitsu game and standup that is lightyears better than kabob. I think he may grind out mister unbeaten. The massive weight cut khabib puts himself through is going to catch up with him at some point. Kabob will take him down but he wont be able to keep him down the way he did to the lucky charms mascot.

Khabib might be my favorite fighter right now. This sambo and ability to maul dudes with his bear strength is like watching Fedor again. He just delivers a brutality in the octagon that not many others on planet earth can compete with. He's also a very intimidating dude. As Conor learned, he is not one to fvck with. He takes things very seriously and wants to end your life.

Poirier is very good, but its going to take a miracle and flash knockout to beat this machine.

I hope his plane goes down.

An impartial fan would have to admit that Khabib is a one dimensional fighter. The thing is that his one dimension may be the single most dominant feature to have in mma. Conor was the perfect fight for him because Conor’s ground game is such trash he couldn’t throw kicks out of fear of the take down which messed up the distance and once he was on the ground he was helpless. Dustin is a much more well rounder fighter and presents a much greater challenge (although still a major dog).
