UCF let a mediocre Temple team — who was in a dog fight with FCS Villanova — put up almost 50 points on them. No shot they win any Power 5 conference. I’m sorry.

If “you can only play the teams on your schedule” was a qualifier, what would be the point of any Power 5 team scheduling a hard non-conference game?
 
Ucf plays Stanford next year fwiw. Hurricane affected their game vs inch this year and GT last year. But they’d be winning the coastal at this time if they were in it. ANyone who denies that is dumb. They’d thrash us

Yes, but the transitive property doesn’t work in college football. Remember when Clemson won the national title a few years back? They lost to Pitt at home — the same Pitt team we demolished (A Miami team with 4 losses) in the last game of the season.
 
"Schedule tougher teams" is the usual response whenever a G5 conference team gripes about being left out. Let me ask, who is going to put UCF on their schedule? P5 conference teams only want to schedule cupcake G5 programs because they don't want to risk an embarrassing loss to a lower level school. There's nothing for them to gain by playing UCF.

Them **possibly** winning the ACC Coastal has zero bearing on them running the table with a Power 5 schedule and making the playoffs. It wouldn’t happen.

That's not true. Houston played Arizona and Texas Tech. Boise State played Oklahoma State.

UCF's problem is that they're too stubborn to just go on the road to play a better team. Their AD says publicly that they do home-and-home contracts. They don't just travel. Okay, then settle for Pitt, because Alabama and Ohio State aren't going to Orlando.

They rarely do. The number of OOC games featuring top 10 teams is lower than ever. If you're a member of a P5 conference, you can fill your OOC schedule with cupcakes and if you go undefeated in conference play, you're in the playoffs.

Disagree with this. Teams want to schedule challenging OOC games that strengthen their CFP resume. If a team can add an opponent that they think will be ranked at the end of the year why wouldn't they try to have them on their schedule?

OK so Houston and Boise scheduled games against average/mediocre P5 teams. So did UCF. They scheduled Pitt and UNC this year. They scheduled Maryland and Georgia Tech last year. The UNC and GT games both got cancelled due to hurricanes but do you think adding a win over either of those mediocre P5 teams would be enough of a resume bump? Of course not because those teams aren't good. Like Arizona, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.

Cool, they have a win over 1 power 5 team that's on their schedule. The thing about UCF, is they play in a league that's more predicated on spread offenses and less on traditional rosters were the trenches are more developed. UCF can get by and beat a Pitt team once a year. Going through the grind of a power 5 schedule is more taxing than G5. If UCF played Notre Dame's schedule, they'd be lucky to have 3 losses.
 
UCF will beat Cincy this weekend and their idiot fans will make it seem like that win PROVES that they are clearly one of the nation's best teams. Of course the realty is every other ranked team would probably beat Cincy too.

Wake me up with UCF beats someone with a pulse during a regular season.
