If you can't tell by the number of post or even the topics of my post this morning... I'll let you in on the secret... I'm bored...lol but any ways here is something that I learned at work the other day about a True Hurricane Fan. Dude has always loved UM but he could not afford to attend school there... So he went and graduated from FSU.. There he met his wife my co-worker... also FSU Alum... Well she told me that her husband's love for UM continues til this day... So much that he pays his Alumni dues to UM... his wife pays her dues to FSU... She admitted that she my sometime forget or neglect to pay her dues... but she said her husband never neglect to pay his to UM... I thought that was very interesting and wanted to share and I'm bored...lol

My daughter and her BF both grad fsu and are Canes fans as well. Sure they aren't dedicated enough to pay the U dues though.

I've been going to games for many years and can tell you that many season ticket holders and fans, are big supporters and contributors to Miami but didn't go to school there.

The most common example is someone from the south Florida area who grew up loving Miami, feeling a part of the community, but just simply didn't have the money to go to the school. So they might end up going to UF, or FSU, or another in-state or out-of-state school, but never lose their loyalty and the blood bond they have with Miami.

My opinion, this is what makes Miami unique. The loyalty the school has from people that might not even live in South Florida, but are all about the U

I was born in Maryland, moved to Miami when I was 1 (1980) and lived there until I went to college. My mom's family is from Miami and had Canes' tickets since the 1950s. Went to my first UM game in 1984 and was hooked. Went to Tulane for undergrad and FSU for MA and Ph D, but wore a UM hat or shirt every single day. Had numerous FSU football players in my classes when I taught at FSU in '04-'06. Now live in Tennessee and have the family season tickets (though I did get rid of them last year because of Golden, but renewed when Richt was hired).

Lots of places with love for The U. I'm always struck by the amount of Miami fans I see in Atlanta, New York, and Jersey.

UKnowWhat,

Interesting you bring this up. I myself am from Baltimore MD. But since I can remember, I was a Cane fan. I was just thinking the other day what caused me to choose Miami as my team. I didn't have a father figure or brother that were fans that I mimicked. Certainly more popular teams were around at that time including FSU. But, I think I just identified with the Canes back in the mid/late 70's and have never wavered since. To this day, one of the worst memories of all time was Terry Porter throwing that flag. Man, that hurt me and my young son to the core. And still to this day it still stings.

From Southeast Texas and a Canes fan since 1983.Never been to a game but I have watched almost all of the televised ones since 83.I plan on going to one this year or next at the latest.Kinda hoping to run into JuanFromLittleHavana too...

I never took high-school seriously enough to even put myself in a position to make college affordable/worth it, but would definitely do it over again if I could..first ever football game I watched was Miami UCLA when Edge went off..was hooked, kinda felt meant to be actually haha. Been going to heinz field whenever they play at Pitt so I'm definitely happy that them and Cuse (whenever they visit them) are in the ACC for that reason..been dying to go down for a FSU game though....someday..

Born and lived in Minnesota all my life. Started following college football near the end of highschool (graduated highschool in 98) and immediately started loving Miami football. Will never forget the Ohio State loss. Try to travel to a game every year or two. Had gophers season tix for the past 8 seasons but I would give the tickets away if they conflict with Miami games. Started following recruiting back in 07-08 when Northwestern produced all those kids. Did not renew the gophs tix this year because I was not happy w the coaching hire. They built a beautiful new stadium 3-4 years ago and have been selling out and are getting all this BIG10 money - and they hire the former coordinator as the head coach for $700,000 per year. Nobody expected a top tier coach at MN obviously but they should be able to afford $3-4 million a year.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
