OT: Trevor Lawrence named starting QB for Clemson

We had our shot at Clemson without a real QB and totally crapped the bed. Now the task gets infinitely more challenging.

Vegas values Lawrence 7+ points over Bryant fwiw.

Yep - we turned Bryant (a pedestrian passer) into friggin Tom Brady. Defense made it wAAAY too easy.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but I don't really get this part. Unless Fromm gets injured or something crazy happens, there doesn't appear to be any reason why he would be benched for Fields.

Fields registered one carry for 3 yards vs Missouri last Saturday. Didn't even attempt a pass.

I agree with this. This is David Greene and DJ Shockley all over again. Fields better hope that Fromm leaves early.

Back to the original topic, Lawrence is the goods. Some were knocking him because apparently he didn't perform well in some camps. As I said then, Lawrence is a 3 and out kid.

One other thing. A lot of people are implying that Fromm is holding UGA's offense back. I disagree. Kirby is running the exact type of offense that he wants to run with the style of play that he wants overall. Control both sides of the los, establish the run, stop the run, create turnovers, take shots when necessary. No way he's doing that because that's only what Fromm is capable of. That offense is holding Fromm back at this point imo.

Bryant will probably transfer, and not wishing any ill on the kid, but Lawerence is a pretty slight dude. He gets injured, could be a problem for Clemson.

Another example of this weak *** generation, man up and win your position back

I don't see why he would quit the team. Why not stay on and either win back the job or take over and lead the team IF Lawrence gets hurt. If Lawrence stays plays well then he can still transfer at the end of the year anyway.

great message from NCAA with new rule promoting individualism over teamwork. save me the "he's gotta do what's best for him and can showcase his talents elsewhere". dude isn't an NFL QB at Clemson or his new school

You're right but at the end of the day the kid can keep a year of eligibility by transferring now. Is it selfish to do, absolutely, but I get wanting to have the chance to play your final year.

Win back the job? Do you realize how poorly Lawrence would have to play for Bryant to win back the job? And Bryant lost the job by losing only one game he completed: Alabama.

I agree with this. Bryant has literally no chance to win the job back. He's playing this situation perfectly given that Dabo only played him for four games this year so this would be a RS year for him. Bryant will be a starter at another school and I'm assuming he's already graduated or will graduate soon.

LOL....but according to ESPN radio Dabo is a genius in handling these sorts of things, no locker room issues & everything is just peachy!

Dabo seems to have made the right choice. Bryant's good, but Lawrence looks to be better. Dabo has a 1st round D-line and the time to win is now as the defense will probably take a step back next year. Capitalize and win when you have the opportunity.

Are you kidding me....Bryant says he wasn't given a fair chance, even though he started their first four games of the season. Dabo gave him every opportunity to succeed as the starter. Clemson is shooting for the playoffs and not just a divisional title. He sees what happened at Alabama and knows that he needs a QB like Lawrence to have any shot at beating them in the playoffs.

Dabo came out and stated Lawrence was his starter for the next week and made it known to the entire football community. That is the definition of not playing games and handling it correctly.

What do you expect Dabo to do? Not start the better QB so that he doesn't upset Bryant and possibly his buddies on the team?

Agreed. The day Lawrence signed his LOI the clock was ticking on when Bryant was transferring. This was an open secret ... everywhere.

Yeah, I really don't get it from some of the posters on this board. We're essentially going through the exact same thing as Clemson is (more talented underclassmen vs senior QB). Many on here, including myself, are clamoring for Perry to start over Rosier as the former's more talented. Dabo made the right choice here. For Bryant though, he needs to stop complaining about doing everything right. CFB is a results driven business, and Lawrence is getting better results and has higher upside than his predecessor.
