OT Tom Herman wants out of Texas

10-12 million? Yeah right. Besides that being a stupid number for a coach that is good, not great, you’re saying Texas would counter a 7m offer from florida by beating it by 3-5 million. That’s just stupid, beyond stupid actually

You and i can agree that Urbby is a shady, self serving prick of a human, but i'm not sure he really cares anymore. And why would he want to hurt Herman? I thought the beef was between him and Zack Smith, but i do recall a little beef between Urbs and Herman. Just can't recall what it was.

I'll agree he is a competition-aholic. It's what makes him great. I just think it's to much on his health and i think the whole OSU thing might have jaded him.

This is a different time and the things it take for HIM to win and win big can't have a blind eye turned to it any more. The ish he pulled in hogtown won't fly in this day and age, and in the tech era everything gets out immediately. There is no keeping a lid on it anymore.

I just think he wants to be alive and coaching will put him in the grave. He has 3 Natty's, but we'll see. You might be right

iirc there was bad blood with urban. don’t recall what it was, but it was there. i wouldn’t be surprised at all of urban is the type to remember that and toss a flashbang out of spite.

he coached two years ago. now isn’t a “different time“ compared to then, but I agree while he could make Texas great, I doubt he can win Another NC

Oh I agree. But I just don't think he's the type of coach that would mesh well with SFL recruits and the city. Better than Manny when it comes to X's and O's, definitely.

I think you're right with the beef. I wouldn't be surprised either to be honest, but that is kind of cutting of your nose in spite of your face. I think urbby is more intelligent than that, however reciprocity is a strong urge

Actually it is. The "different" time is what got him fired. You don't have to agree just so say, but just because you don't think it's different doesn't make it so. He couldn't adjust and even tried to throw the AD under the bus to save his job.
 
Texas basically has it's first pick of talent in Texas. If you can't cut it there, then you are not a good head coach. No excuses. That place provides them with all the money in the world to get things done. Herman is overrated.

I believe the only way Urbs coaches again is if Notre Dame ever comes open, it’s still and forever will be his dream job. You’d have to think if Kelly keeps getting them close but never over the hill which he won’t because he can’t consistently beat the Sabans and Dabos of the world they finally get frustrated and fire him and make a run at urban. IMO that’s the only way he ever coaches again.

I just took a look at Texas' in state recruiting this year. It's shocking. Texas signed one player ranked in the the top 20 in Texas (with two still undecided although one of them is heavily favored to USC). Two players in the top 30.

It used to be that every Texas kid grew up dreaming of playing for the longhorns. Now they can't get anybody.

He got a lot more than just salary, I’ve heard earnings worth $10mil/yr and I don’t doubt it.
He knew Texas was a risky and ****** job. Herman recruiting Texas and Louisiana with LSU backing is a whole different animal.

Pope Urban is an ALPHA.

He enjoys mushroom stamping all who oppose him.

I believe he would go just to keep winning Natties because they in large part still define him.
 
Tom Herman hates his job. His team is demoralized. Still can beat Miami.
