Recently my ears have started ringing, and won't stop. It's maddening! I was wondering if anybody else on the board has it? And if so things you have done to either get rid of, or at least quiet the ringing?

What’s your age in decades (20 - 30, 30 - 40, 40 - 50, 50 - 60)? I am not a physician, and don’t have this condition, but I do know some family and friends who have it. However, I would have your condition checked out by a dr to make sure it is not some other underlying cause like high blood pressure or some neurological deterioration. It could be age related depending on your age, and there are supplements one can take to soften or eliminate the ringing. There also prescription meds your dr can prescribe.

This must be annoying as ****. Please state some more info I’m asking above, and I’ll give you my 2 cents worth (I’ll do some research for you). Hope it goes away.

It is common as you age if you have been exposed to loud noises like gun fire, rock music, or machinery. The good news is that as you age and start to lose your hearing, it becomes less noticeable.

Have it from years wearing a headset in ATC. Each ear has different tone, like two guitars playing an octave off each other. Nothing I know to get rid of it. Does help some being around noise though as it is somewhat distracting

Bottom line from what I've read;

Many, many causes for tinnitus...treatments are available to help reduce the noise......but to date NO CURE , at least none I'm aware of.

So, unless you're willing to stay up and try those meds & treatments that come "highly recommended by Stars" on the TV after 2AM. You may be stuck with it just like me and 1 in 5 other Americans

I’ve had that since the service. You’ll eventually learn to ignore it. Some days are worse than others.
The more you think about it he louder it gets unfortunately. And no cure. It will also mess up your high pitch hearing. My wife tells me when my breaks are squeaking cause I do t hear it. Use ear plugs when using loud tools etc.
I drove for ups for a while and my ent told me to use ear plugs while driving. Didn’t realize how loud that truck was and the road noise with the door opened.

The only thing that did quiet the noise for a while was cortisol pills. But as soon as I stopped taking the pills, the noise came back. I got mine from the service also.

Were you part of the US Embassy in Havana? I hear lots of people have brain issues after sonic attacks...

Something cheap and easy. Put some raw, unfiltered honey and two teaspoons of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar in a small glass of water and drink three of those a day.

One more - raw ginger - grate and steep in hot water - drink, two or three times a day.

And fresh pineapple - lots of vitamin A that seems to help as well.

Easy, natural, cheap, and no side effects.

One day I was driving to work. I turned the radio off because there was a hissing noise coming from it. It wasn't the radio.
My guess it was from that bad car accident where I broke my face, or, that Led Zeppelin concert in '77.
Some days it's worse than others. You learn to live with it. Now I only hear it when I think about it. Like now.

Have these worked for you?
Does it lessen, or eliminate the ringing?

I spent a lifetime working in some pretty noisy environments. Mine started coming on about age 62. I mentioned it to my ENT doctor during a checkup for another, unrelated, problem. He flat out said there's no treatment and no cure. However, it will get less noticeable in time. Now mine comes and goes. When it happens try not to dwell on it. Just go about your routines and put it out of your mind. Welcome to club SENIOR CITIZEN.

Apple cider vinegar is the secret weapon to many illnesses , ACV works miracles in so many ways from head to toes , BING it and you'll see.

Have had it for years now. Usually shows up when you get older and can be an indication of hearing loss.* Have learned to live with it. Helps to have a fan or something running in the background, especially if you're trying to go to sleep and everything is quiet .

*Per my doctor

Gotta say it. Great to see Canes helping a fellow Cane with an issue unrelated to football. Kudos to all who responded!

The first suggestion addresses infection and subsequent inflammation.

The second addresses improving circulation - to carry away possible infection and subsequent inflammation.

The third - pineapple addresses inflammation - period.

Do as you wish, but if you do these and are serious about getting rid of that ****, do the above, and take a zinc supplement as well.

I've had it since I was 16 and still only in my 20's. I feel like I've tried just about everything with no success and pretty much accepted it at this point, but I'm gonna try FarArchers suggestion and see how it works out.
