Much ado about nothing, imo. Hurd is not a very good passing QB. Butch knows that so I'm guessing the offense is built around read/option in order to leverage Hurd's strengths, which are his legs and decision making. Hurd wants to be a pocket passer because he doesn't like getting beat up. Jones keeps calling this type of offense, Tenn loses, and kids start to talk about transferring, etc. This will all blow over.

Tennessee junior RB Jalen Hurd has told teammates he plans to transfer, according to WNML's Jimmy Hyams.
This is massive news, and a bit surprising as Hurd could have become the school's all-time leading rusher this season. That is likely where Hurd's frustration lies, as the team is not using him as a power runner, instead focusing on lateral and finesse runs. Hurd likely does not think he fits the offense currently being run. According to Hyams, Hurd wants to play receiver or tight end at his next school, which adds another level of intrigue to the report. Alvin Kamara has proven to be a better back for the Vols this year, and at 227-pounds, Hurd is not doing his part in breaking first contact. On the season, Hurd has 451 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 122 carries. He cannot play for another program until the 2017 season.

There's always these kinds of stories.. But I'm positive there will not be a mass exodus from Tenn. Those guys never want to do an extra year of school and sit out a whole season. Unless they pull off a full blown mutiny they have little to no pull in the situation.

Jones is what golden would've been without sanctions. Guy would've recruited at that top 5 level in the beginning and we'd still be stuck with the guy winning 9 games or so every yr with talent alone.
