They can still play 4 games and redshirt.
I am referring to what OP is talking about with redshirting all possible players, tanking the season, and trying again next year.

Tanking Has Come to College Football. Is That a Problem?

No, it doesn't get you draft picks, but it does let you redshirt the best players for the following year when the team will be (presumably) better.
Maybe Manny is just ahead of the curve...
Diaz did say he wasn't focused on this season and was building for the long run. That might explain why Nelson will stay at LT instead of potentially flipping with Scaife. He wants him to take his lumps now even though it will probably cost the team some Ws.
I think this kind of "tanking" is mostly wishful thinking and a mistake. This is not nearly the same situation as the Dolphins.
Please with the Dolphins on here - they're not tanking, they've FLAT LINED for the last 35 years or so. WORST FRONT OFFICE in SPORTS HISTORY (Dolphins have a dynasty in that category); they had freakin' Dan Marion and could only get him to one Super Bowl, and have done little or nothing since. I say they TANKED years ago, people just didn't notice. Let the Dolphins go the way of the Orange Bowl - in fact, I'd rather still have the OB than that shrine to medocrity of an organization.
