Even if they convert, Clemson had a good chance of getting a game winning FG. This way, they didn't need to even try. Had there been seconds left, I'd understand. There was just too much time left to try it there. The play call was horrible as well.

That’s the same play they ran to get the two point conversion against USCe. And in that game Howell also kept the ball and ran it in on the option. When they decided to go for two I literally said it out loud watch the option to the left! I’m sure Clemson new it was coming from film study because they were all over it.
