OT: Santiago DR: Anyone know any sports bars....

To watch games tonight and weekend.
I live there sporadically throughout the year. I haven’t been to a sports bar as I just stream on sportsurge.net. A lot of restaurants have their bars closed. There is also a corona curfew there, which tonight goes til 9 pm so you won’t see the whole game and they will ticket or arrest people for violating it... If it’s even on and I doubt they’re picking up ACCN but I could be wrong.

Curfew on Saturday and Sunday is 7 pm. They are very strict about this and masks.

There’s a Friday’s there as was mentioned.
Not sure how long you’re there but I can give you some of the restaurants I like.

El Tablón Latino for dinner. I love the calamari appetizer. Everything there is good. Make sure to order a coco mojito. They use real coconut. The glass of house red wine is very good. Just say “una copa de vino tinto”.

Square One Cafe for breakfast. It’s like a diner so lunch and dinner are fine as well.

Scory Café- same owner as Square One. Great for breakfast (tres golpes) and good ceviche as an appetizer lunch or dinner. Both are housed in buildings at Total gas stations.

Muuu meat - cash only. outdoor grilled meat place for dinner. You walk up and order what you want by weight and they grill it for you. Steak, chicken, pork - you pick and choose from up to like 8 different meets and can order portions of each by weight.

La trattoria de Claudio has good pasta and brick oven type pizza.

212 pizza by El Tablón Latino is a good pizza joint for standard NY Pizza. They also have one on Autopista Duarte leaving the city towards the airport.

When ordering a Presidente, make sure to ask for it “Vestido de Novia” and it will come out as frozen as beat can get.

Not sure if it’s open but the Museo Leon is a nice museum.

Any other questions, feel free to ask, and I’ll try to answer.

I envy you bro! Your in Santiago, DR? Nice. Is the curfew still in play in DR? Was there a few months ago and they shut everything down at 7pm and enforced it too.

I’m back in the US right now but headed back there soon. I can see the monument lit up from the new apartment at night. I’m looking to buy a place there next year and live there more. That’s where my wife is from. Interest rates are very high there so that’s a killer.

The curfew is 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday and I think 9 pm all other nights and yeah they don’t play. Did you eat in any of the places I listed or did you head to Sosua/Cabarete?

I do the Dominican version of Mofongo - mangu. I love it as part of the tres golpes breakfast and I have them add avocado to that. There is mofongo on many menu’s there, usually as an appetizer, and they call them mofongitos.

Here fresh grouper I had for less than $5 at Square one. I could of had two sides of mashed potatoes, mangu, vegetables, fries, and other stuff but I just had salad:

For breakfast, Los tres golpes has mangu (boiled mashed green plantains), fried salami, fried cheese, eggs and I add the avocado. Here’s an order I had at Scory Cafe in October there for less than $4.

Thanks for planning my DR trip for me

Take the drive to Sosua. It's well worth, especially if this is a boy's only trip. You can thank me later! LOL!!!
I just gave that suggestion to someone who DM’d me about going there. Lol I told them to stay walking distance from everything in a hotel, or even better, an apartment.

Here’s the outdoor grilled meat place Muuu Meat where you order whatever you want and they grill it:

And here’s the Calamari appetizer at El Tablón Latino. It’s a sesame Asian style that’s sweet and spicy and the cucumber just makes it even more perfect:
