OT: RIP John Havilchek

Could you give a background of said sir to the less fortunate?

In his athletic prime in the 60s he could play todays game. He had vision, court feel, smart, could really shoot, could guard his man (play D)LOL and pass the ball. He was clutch and he won. He was a big time player who played big in big games. I saw him live in the early 70s Vs. The great Bob McAdoo and the Buffalo Braves. I was 10-12 yrs old and we knew then, at that age.. when Hondo came off the bench ..It was over for the Braves. This was the JoJo White early Cowens era..He was a very, very respected player in the NBA by all fans..even Celtic haters.. because he was just a good fundamental baller...IMO

Born in NYC....and my father had Knicks season tickets from 67-73...So as a youngster was able to see Hondo play live....I too remember those Celtic teams with Chaney...JoJo...Cowens..etc....I also remember those Buffalo teams you referred to with McAdoo...(Loved Randy Smith btw)
Havlichek is without a doubt a Top 40-50 all time player....Ask Clyde Frazier...Earl Monroe...Bradley...Cazzie Russell etc...bout Hondo....I don't think I've ever seen an NBA player who played with such intensity for an entire game.....Hondo was all that and more.
