OT/ RIP Jim Kiick

Kick and Morris used to play in some heated pick up basketball games at Suniland park when I was growing up in 70’s. I played baseball and Kendall Broncos with Nick Bonticonti Jr and Sr would coach our teams while still playing w/ the Dolphins

Feel so sorry for Jim Kiick and his kids.

Going out the way he went is one of the worst ways to go, for anyone familiar with his last few years.

The guy also had some bad breaks personally, which I won’t go into detail here, but happen to know in some detail about because I had knowledge of some of his family members from very early in my career in the late 90’s/early 2000’s.

I hope he has found his peace, as well as his children, especially Allie.

I saw Nick Jr. hit a homerun just by sipping and puffing at the right time.

If you have never read it, you should pick up the book "Always on the Run". There are some great stories in there.

RIP to a childhood hero.

Yes! Loved his hard-nosed style. One of my favorites....when I was still a Dolphin fan.

Now I couldn’t name the last half dozen head coaches, quarterbacks, etc.

What were they called, Butch and Sundance?

I read a book Kiick and Csonka wrote, I think it was called Always on the Run.

Broke my heart when they signed with that other league.

I remember standing next to him and Zonk on the sideline of the practice field at Biscayne College when you could get that close. They were a trip. Always thought he was a great guy. He was much older than me. Rest in Peace my friend.

But didn't have Merc's speed...Hence him losing Starter role...
Not many had Merc's speed. Got to tell though, back then on 3 and 4, you knew Bob was throwing a short pass to Jim and you knew is was going to be a 1st down. Sitting in the West with those three backs was great back then. Shula hated fumbles. That the biggest thing holding Merc back early. Butch and Sundance went one year with like one fumble between them.
