One of my favorite Dolphins. During his first 2 years in the league it was Kiick, not Csonka, that made the AFL All Star team. He could do it all. Run, block catch

Used to love those teams with he and Zonk in the backfield and then Mercury Morris too. Great memories! RIP Mr Kiick. 🙏

Yes! Loved his hard-nosed style. One of my favorites....when I was still a Dolphin fan.

Now I couldn’t name the last half dozen head coaches, quarterbacks, etc.

What were they called, Butch and Sundance?

I read a book Kiick and Csonka wrote, I think it was called Always on the Run.

Broke my heart when they signed with that other league.

No, Kiick and Csonka were/are early ‘70’s.

someone posted Kiick had Alzheimer’s and was 73. I wonder if he had a lot of concussions and if that could be related....I wonder if they’ve researched that.

There was a time when people made no big deal over concussions. I used to come home from high school practice with bad headaches. Just slept them off and went back out there next day. I wonder now if I had multiple concussions. That was mid 1960’s. Nobody cared about concussions.

Not total package. Didn’t have ability to take it to the house at any time like Mercury Morris. Merc had blazing speed. Ran close to 9.3 hundred yards, which was the standard track dash in the US at the time. That was very fast.

Kiick was hard nosed hard running back who caught and blocked as well. Not explosive like Mercury.

Don't forget the impact of football helmets made out of eggshells with a few canvas straps inside of them.
