I realize the college football playoffs may change and this becomes moot if there are more teams in it in the future, but right now Notre Dame is ranked 5 in the AP and pending in the updated playoff rankings.

entirely possible not being a a conference champion with another somewhat decent win in the acc championship in a down year might be what keeps them out of the playoff

that and losing to Cincinnati lol

For starters, they have no business being ranked no. 5....that in of itself Is a joke because they are not that good.

I was thinking about ND not making the playoffs either because they don't get a conference CH GM. As long as they don't expand the playoffs, and it looks like that talk has cooled, they are going to find it difficult getting into the playoffs if they aren't undefeated. They should just join the ACC, already.

This is why the ACC should vote against the expanded playoff. In order for the ACC to compete with the SEC and Big 10 financially, they need ND to join full time. This situation is what I've been waiting to come to fruition to finally push them into full time membership.
That would be wise. Force them in. Then expand playoffs year after 😭

I will say that I don't want BAMA to get into the playoffs this year, so I would be all for the old farts on the committee to nostalgically vote the Domers over a two loss BAMA team (which they will probably be when they play UGA in the SEC CH GM).

I'd be cool if the playoffs were: UGA, OSU*/UofM, Cincy and ND. Also, if Oklahoma or Okie State win their conf championship with only one loss, they might also leap frog a 2 loss BAMA.

After the Big 12 championship game, if the Big 12 champ has only one loss, I could see them leapfrogging ND as well since they played one more game than ND.

True. I just think that a 2-loss BAMA team, who did NOT win their conference, shouldn't get in over a one loss P5 team who DID win their conf.

I usually hate the Domers and the preferential treatment they've received historically, but I REALLY hate BAMA and Satan and would love for Nick to miss the playoffs because the Domers had some nostalgic votes push them into the playoffs, leaving BAMA out.

Being ND is worth +3 wins, making their effective record 13-1. They’ll get in.

Once they expand playoffs to 12 teams then they won’t care.
And they know **** well its coming because their AD sat on the "expand the playoffs" sub-group.

Respect Notre Dame for this: thry have continued to sustain NCAA special treatment for decades and it continues to spill over to CFBPO.

Don't be surprised if the committee puts them at No. 4 over the Cincinnati team that destroyed them.
This would cause an absolute uproar. Cinci f^cked on them at their place and hasn't lost...they never put OSU above Oregon, despite it being clear that if this game were played next weekend, Ohio St would probably win by 28+. I also think that Michigan will still be ahead of ND at 5, just makes for a little more juice when they play OSU on Saturday. There is no justification for the committee to put ND over Cinci, especially when Cinci did exactly what the committee wanted them to do - clobbered a decent SMU team by 5 scores

ND (admins) probably doesn't care if they make the playoffs or not. As long as they're in a NY6 bowl they're good. Playoffs, and they'll get beat but will get paid.

UGA and Bama play, MICH and OSU* play... still a ways to go, amigo. But I like your spirit.
