After under-center, multiple tight end formations but getting trounced by Florida (and Ohio St.), Michigan goes HUNH Spread:

Doesn't Harbaugh know the pros don't use spread? /sarc

Overrated assumes that he had higher expectations. People throw that word around too much. What did people expect Harbaugh to come in and do? Beat Alabama? Beat OSU/Meyer?

Yea, kind of.

Michigan has money like those schools, and when he came in he had been successful at Stanford and SF.

I guarantee you can probably find numerous posts and threads on this site blowing him, like people blew Tagfart, and are currently blowing Briles.

You can imagine the Michigan fans had exactly those expectations, for him to be right up there with the Alabama’s and the Ohio States, and to actually beat Ohio State every once in a while

Was it the offense that gave up 69 points to Ohio State?

Good point but Ohio State defense was garbage last season and his offensive play calling got predictable in that game in the 2nd half.

Meyer just tormented him in that 2nd half

Yeah it was ugly to watch. And his playcaller was terrible. Michigan doesn't have much speed on the perimeter, but at least throw the ball down the field.

Yes! That's exactly why I made that comment. EVERY SINGLE YEAR michigan just gets massive preseason hype! And what has he accomplished there? A big fat bag of nothing. He has never beat the Buckeyes, and has lost to Sparty every time except once, never does crap in the Big Ten, gets blown out in bowl games, got rocked by ND last year, etc. And not only have they not won, they've looked dreadful at times. Yet, here we are with Michigan getting a bunch of preseason playoff talk once again.

He was good at Stanford. But the amount of hype since he got to UM (and the amount they pay him) vs on field accomplishments to me equals the most overrated coach in CFB history.

I can see and agree with him being the most over hyped coach. He hasn't lived up to expectations, but he's won 10 games in every year except 2017 since he's been there. Over rated is a bit of a stretch. His work at Michigan so far is about the same as his work at Stanford. He's coaching in a better conference and doesn't have Andrew Luck under center this time around.

Fair enough. I think you and I are referring to the same thing though when I call it overrated and you call it over-hyped. The amount of hype he gets plus the fact he gets paid $7.5mil and hasn't accomplished a **** thing at Ann Arbor to me means he is overrated.

Michigan football does not perceive itself as Stanford football, and neither do Michigan fans.

Harbaugh never won the Pac 12. Michigan did not hire Harbaugh to not win the "Big 10".

Sucks for them, they're over paying him. They had high expectations for him, but yeah that's kind of my point. He couldn't win then with a great QB so why are we expecting more?
