OT: Mario Cristobal named HC at Oregon

Good for him.

My only issue with him was how he turned tail three weeks on the job at UM. But now he looks like a prophet for avoiding Folden.

My only concern with Mario is that we would have brought him in as a totally unproven HC down the line. That will no longer be a concern. Thanks Oregon!
 
The fact that he won't go to FSU is a positive for us, as much as the naysayers doubt his recruiting it's better he stay on the west coast.
 
Congrats to him - Glad he's not going to FSU. Lazy/poor hire by Oregon.
 
That's a really good job for someone with the only Head Coaching exp was FIU....

Yeah, I'm good with it. I want to see what Mario does as a HC in a Power 5 conference for those that keep clamoring for him to be a HC at Miami one day. If he does really good at Oregon, and the day Richt retires, then we can revisit this.

For the present time though, it's one less recruiting tool that Taggart brings with him to Tallahassee.
 
LOL...this was a "players wanted this" hire, won't end well. ***** went 27-47 in a fertile recruiting ground, while Babers was winning the MAC-E with South Florida afterthoughts.

USF North (AKA FSU) fans hyping up Taggart as this stud recruiter. When has Taggart signed a major prospect, I mean gone head-to-head with at least one top program and won for a player that program really wanted? I don't recall it happening at USF. They had a top 10 rated recruiting class at Oregon, but I suspect Mario had more than a little to do with that.

I've seen Charles Kelly recruiting with Taggart. Hopefully Taggart retains Kelly with Leavitt not going to Tally. Any advantage that we can get.

I do think Leavitt will stay now. No one wants that heat Taggart is getting for jumping ship the way he did.

Yeah. The one of instant recruiting juice Taggart would have if Cristobal and Leavitt came with. Not talking wins as I think this job is too big for Taggart right now but we would have had to battle harder for kids with that trio.

For now means that we don’t know who he will grab now.

Miami is his dream job. If he turns out to be a good head coach be will coach here one day. Glad we aren't the test dummie
