OT: Kendal Briles moving on....

Would kill it here.

Funny thing is that even though all the whiners have shown up saying that we are light years away from being competitive with Clemson/Alabama, I think this one change - Briles as OC, Richt focuses just on being HC - puts us right at a championship level (assuming better qb play). That simple.

And regarding his "baggage" K. Briles wasn't named in the formal report of Baylor. He defended his dad, which I guess you can **** him for that, but he did what most sons would do. In 2015, he got hit with recruiting violations for talking to a recruit at a track meet. Good god, recruiting violation of the century. He's a stock that dropped because of bad press and is now way undervalued. Miami should have bought low.

Watching the KC - Tennessee game. Andy Reid has spent his entire coaching career calling plays, but after a four game slide he held himself accountable and gave up play calling duties. They then won four in a row.

You comparing Alex Smith to Malik Rosier?

Interesting comparison. Smith led league in passer rating and 95% of KC fans think he's a bum and can't wait until he is gone. Rosier broke Miami TD record for qb and we can't wait til the next qb starts.

yea, but Rosier sucks. The offense Richt runs is catered to make the QB look good. Think of how many TDs Malik left on the table and then you'll appreciate Richt's offense and coaching.

Can say the virtually the same thing about Alex Smith. Won't be KC QB next year. And no, I wasn't that impressed with the offense and coaching. I still don't understand why Richt waited so long to pull Kaaya against Pitt. He sucked from the beginning of the game. Should have been pulled after the 1st quarter, stick Dallas in at Wildcat for a series (so no Sherriffs). Something to wake him up before it was desperation time.

I agree with pulling Malik earlier and that strategy with Dallas could have been done earlier in the season as well, but it seemed like Richt wanted to let an undefeated kid work his way through it. He's a loyal guy and I guess he knew what we had behind Malik.

Smith has a more complete skill-set than Rosier and is better than anyone the Dolphins have. I haven't watched a ton of Smith but he always surprises me a little. I think the exact opposite for Rosier. He always lets me down a little at critical moments.

Wtf has Kendall Briles done aside from work for offensive gurus? Does anyone actually think he was responsible for the success of Art or Kiffin's offenses? Let's rephrase...would FAU had a bad offense without him or is it possible that Kiffin (an offensive Mastermind) would have been able to field a successful offense no matter what?

Is it the Art Briles system or the Kendall Briles system? Where does last year's darling (Matt Canada) work right now? He did such an awesome job at LSU.

poor decision by Richt not to bring this guy on and introduce him to Jesus. gold right under your nose and you don't even notice it smh.

Dude, Briles is TOXIC, another poster mentioned it above. Even if CMR wanted him, it was not happening.

that's why I said introduce him to Jesus. takes the toxic right out of ya like 'tussin.

You are right - Kiffin is an offensive genius, but he didn't call plays because he learned that it is too much for a head coach to handle both. You know who taught him that? Nick Saban, probably the GOAT college coach, who can out coach anyone defensively, but also gave up calling defensive plays. Kiffin cites Saban as the reason he gave up play calling. Kiffin hired an OC, Briles, who could implement Kiffin's vision and call plays. Same for Saban on D. Briles doesn't have to have some amazing scheme, but he certainly has a good feel for the game and knows what plays to call at the right time. Richt could still design the offense, you need someone good to oversee the implementation and execution. There is a reason the vast, vast majority of HCs at both college and NFL don't call their own plays even though they probably became HCs due to excellence as coordinators - it's just too much to do both jobs.

Some people are overly obsessed with coordinators.

None of what you wrote supports Kendall Briles credentials as an OC. There are plenty of HC's that call plays. Facts. I know there are arguments to be made on both sides about HC/play callers. That's not what I am disputing. The Kendall Briles love affair on here is unsubstantiated nonsense is all.

And still lost as the offense fell apart in the second half and they somehow forgot they had the league's leading rusher on their side and didn't give him the ball.

Lol....WTF does that mean?

I agree in the sense of Golden/Dnofrio or Saban/D Coordinator but Richt needs to turn that **** over wholesale. (like to he does with the defense)

You're right. Briles accomplished nothing.

Architect of an offense ranked No. 9 in the nation, Briles accepted the offensive coordinator position at Houston, the Cougars announced on Saturday. The Owls averaged 498.4 yards per game in Briles lone season as offensive coordinator.

Briles came to FAU from Baylor, installing the ultra-high tempo Baylor offense that led to FAU scoring 40.8 points per game in 2017 – eight best nationally.

Under Briles, the Owls led Conference USA in scoring with 40.6 points a game. They also averaged a league-high 285.3 rushing yards.

Installing a gimmick offense into a terrible league. What a feat.

LOL...look at you goin' hard in the paint for this scumbag like we're not already Miami, the media would crucify our @$$es.

Plenty of other coaches at the lower levels that can get the results of scumbag Briles without Richt jeopardizing all His credibility.
