OT: Iowa Fires Chris Doyle

I am going to buy you a ‘I heart cancel culture’ t-shirt. Where should I send it?
You can send that up your *** and to the left...

So you’re the reason Black people call me and other conservatives racist ehh?

The juxtaposition of the white players tweets about Chris Doyle and the black players tweets are.....illuminating.

Party lines aren't race related for the record. I'd just like to know more detail.

What position did he put them in? Had this been addressed previously? What exactly did he do? Or is this part of new age cancel culture? (ex: Coach ____ made me run and the white kid beat me out of a job, he's racist.)

They just felt like they couldn’t be themselves supposedly, and I guess brian ferentz said A new Detroit tattoo a kid got was dumb. you no longer have to commit racist acts to be called a racist anymore, just hurt someone’s feelings that could possibly have a racial dimension...ie Detroit has a lot of blacks, so saying something negative about a Detroit tattoo on a black guy means your racist.

Ok well at least there’s something, even if it’s dumb.

So basically they think he’s an *******. Case closed.

Thank you. This is what I wanted. He’s an ******* who has no business interacting with kids in 2020. He only belongs in the pro’s with that kind of mentality.

Former Iowa defensive back Emmanuel Rugamba, who transferred to Miami (Ohio), alleged two instances involving Doyle in which he mocked black athletes and, as a result, "made you walk around the football facility on eggshells ... and caused anxiety that could be unbearable at times with your dreams and career on the line."

Former Hawkeyes linebacker Terrance Pryor said black athletes had to deal with "many racist incidents" during his time there, including an incident with Doyle in which he alleges the strength coach told him, "maybe you should take up rowing or something you know? Oh wait, Black people don't like boats in water, do they?"

You can punk 18 and 19 year old kids like this but I don't think you're pulling this **** with the pros without physical altercation.

He doesn’t have to. They are financially motivated. He can just teach/instruct without having to babysit.
Talking schit and cursing a kid because he spit on some turf is what you call motivation? Sounds more like power trippin to me. Idk if I was racially motivated but it is odd that black players and white players have a very different opinion about him.

Slander??

You think Iowa fired him for slander. He was problematic as ****. I guarantee that what their internal investigation uncovered was just the tip
Don't know, that's why I was waiting for the evidence to be presented and not slander. Yes I do believe in today's society, a great person (not saying he was) can easily lose their livelihood over, well... slander. The victim mentality and quest for blood has all but repealed innocent until proven guilty in America. #woke

That’s true but you can’t tell me a guy that’s being accused by dozens of athletes is being slandered. He’s had 16 players by my count say something about him.

Of course he can, especially with everything going on right now. I'm not saying that's the case but a group of players that never liked him can smell blood and attack.

It's not "slander" just because you choose to label it as such.

I am a white conservative so I guess I am automatically a racist, but saying I am not doesn't seem to work so I am what I am...a tired old man wondering where all this controversy will lead and simply want college football to resume since everything is so skewed now. SIGH!

Just play a little hypothetical mental game here.

You seem like a very nice and reasonable person. Let's add in that you are happily married. Then one day, you adopt a young black child. You raise the child in the suburbs, great schools, no lack of money. The child never gets into trouble, is an excellent student, and receives an athletic scholarship to a good school.

Then, the minute your child is away from home, an authority figure begins to belittle that child based on nothing but the color of his skin, having absolutely no idea of the upbringing, your parenting skills, the respect you have taught your child, etc.

You might have a problem with such behavior.

Essentially, that is what some of the Iowa football players have said. That this strength coach made derogatory and stereotypical comments that had nothing to do with the actual character of the individual, but were based on nothing but the ethnicity of the individual player (again, in a stereotypical way, there is no indication that these players spoke, behaved, or dressed in any stereotypical way).

That is all.

I am not saying anything good or bad about this coach. I am simply taking note of the fact that a significant number of players and former players have complained. And that Iowa seems to have found enough evidence of patterns of behavior or lack of oversight that have led them to hire a high-priced law firm to perform a full study of the program.

At the very least, this is concerning.
