OT: I need help people ( medical people especially )

Medical student here, graduate next year. I'd definitely recommend taking your dad to a doctor. There's some nasty stuff out there including things that can be potentiated by those with liver issues ( your old man drinks). Feel free to DM if there's any way I can help. Obviously not a medical professional but I can let you know what I understand

This probably isn't the greatest place to ask this type of thing, but you people on this board have been all over the globe it seems. At the very least maybe I can get a suggestion.

My dad has always had control issues regarding slamming down beers, it bit him in the *** not long ago. We went out on his air boat to spend some time cruising the shore lines maybe a year ago. Well after spending a good amount of time drinking with this rather cool individual, I know when he gets into what I call "party mode." It's usually at that point where I would just make up an excuse to go do something else, but we were out on the water and he decided it was time to party.

I'll skip to what happened - We managed to get the air boat back on the trailer, but he went way way too fast trying to hop off of it and onto the dock. Foot slipped on the wet dock, feet went straight up, hip slammed straight onto the dock and then head first into the water where he got cut up on some rocks.

Now fortunately this seems to have gotten his attention with regards to going party mode on a boat, but the problem is the cuts that happened. They healed up, but he contracted something from that water out on the st. johns river. He has some kind of bacteria or fungus that is slowly eating away at the skin on his hands. He just doesn't, or hasn't, seemed to get the significance of what is going on either. I got him to go to the VA hospital, and they gave him a cream for it ( didn't even try to identify what the fck it actually is ). The cream DID work, until they had him wean off of it and then the stuff comes right back. Went through 2 bottles and no joy.

Over the year this has been going it has finally seemed to dawn on him that his life may be on the line. He's tried everything under the sun from soaking his hands in motor oil, to all different combinations of honey, ginger, vinegar... the only thing that put a dent in it was when he woke up one morning and it was itching so bad he put his hands in bleach so long that it actually burnt his hands. I suppose looking back that is finally what got his attention that this is a serious situation.

I can't believe the VA hospital didn't do their due diligence with this, but that's another story altogether. Does anyone know anyone that has had this issue or what may be causing it? The day he woke up when it was severe with the bleach, you could literally see the blood in his hands through the cuts.

Insist that he be seen by an infectious disease specialist. You probably know this already but an infectious disease specialist is an MD who specialty is all manner of infectious disease, bacterial, fungal, viral, etc. pretty much every VA that I’ve ever known has at least one or more infectious disease specialist that they consult with.

Also insist on his medical information including any culture and sensitivity reports. In other words has pathogen been identified. But start with an infectious disease specialist.

If he can’t get into see someone, look into telehealth opportunities through an iPad or phone. Many high quality places have some version of it and it can get you next steps.

THIS WAS MY FATHERS LEFT HAND HEALED AFTER SURGEONS REMOVED HIS FLESH FROM THE UPPER FOREARM TO THE BACK OF HIS HAND WHERE IT STARTED. HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE FLESH EATING BACTERIA AND LIKE MOST HAVE ALREADY MENTIONED HERE, IT TRAVELS VERY QUICKLY...(LESS THAN A COUPLE OF DAYS)...CATCHING IT EARLY WITH THE PROPER BIOPSY IS WHAT SAVED HIM FROM LOSING HIS LEFT ARM AT THE SHOULDER...GOD SPEED FOR A SUCCESSFUL RESOLUTION AND RECOVERY.

In addition to the colloidal silver (where the instructions should be carefully followed), start taking black seed oil and using it with MCT (liquid coconut oil) and green healing clay topically. Also, food grade peroxide is more effective than bleach if used correctly.

Other helpful natural remedies are garlic, honey, echinace, goldenseal, ginger, clove, oregano and turmeric for a compromised immune system. Drink alkaline water, beet juice, tart cherry juice, sour sop juice, mangosteen nectar, cerasee tea and aloe water.
I would also start a regime of prebiotics/probiotics and listen to Solfeggio healing frequencies.

Not a doc, but get him to the hospital, and not sure about down there, but the VA hospitals up here are TRASH, if his insurance will cover it, get him to the best hospital in your area.

Several strains of Vibrio bacteria can cause infections from both salt and fresh water. . A 45 yo Woman recently died from a Vibrio Vulnificus infection caught in the St Johns River. .She was a diabetic. Alcoholism can predispose to increased infections so your dad should seek treatment immediately preferably with an infectious disease specialist.. DO NOT Go to a natural remedy quack. Most of that is not evidence based with double blinded studies. And yes I am an M.D. .

****..I was just watching monsters inside me..idk if you gonna get much good insight on cis (this is not the place for sound advice on football nevertheless real issues)..the jack Daniels idea might be in the lead as far as things to do followed by seek medical help..but no really, seek medical help

What are the benefits of oregano oil?
If you buy something through a link on this page, we may earn a small commission. How this works.
Oregano oil is a product made from the oregano plant, Origanum vulgare. It contains a higher concentration of the helpful compounds that occur naturally in the plant.
This oil is available to use orally, unlike oregano essential oil, which is much more concentrated and used in aromatherapy. People should not take essential oils by mouth.
Whether a person applies it topically or takes an oral supplement, oregano oil may be helpful for a range of conditions.
Compounds in the oil have effective antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, which explain many of the benefits.
There are some risks and potential issues to consider before using oregano oil, and it may not be right for everyone. This article covers 10 of the most promising health benefits of oregano oil.

What is oregano oil?

Oregano oil is a diluted oil that is safe to take orally.
Oregano, or Origanum vulgare, is a small, bushy plant that belongs to the mint family. It is a familiar culinary herb in Italian dishes.
Oregano oil contains high levels of important compounds in its leaves and smaller stems. Oil manufacturers dry the leaves and stems, then steam-distill the plant matter to extract as many compounds as possible.
Oregano oil contains:
  • carvacrol, the main active compound in oregano oil and a type of antioxidant called a phenol
  • thymol, which may help protect against toxins and fight fungal infections
While oregano oil contains a significant amount, the compound thymol occurs most abundantly in thyme.

10 benefits

Oregano oil may have the following health benefits:
1. Fighting bacteria
Thanks to the high levels of carvacrol, oregano oil may help fight certain types of bacteria.
For instance, Staphylococcus is a common type of bacteria that causes staph infection. Some strains occur naturally in the body, but when the bacteria grow too quickly, it can cause bothersome symptoms.
Research shows that carvacrol is effective in eliminating the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis, two common causes of infection.
Taking oregano oil supplements or rubbing it on the skin may help a person make use of these antibacterial effects.
Researchers are also exploring the use of oregano oil for antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The authors of a study in Frontiers in Microbiologyfound that a combination of oregano oil and silver nanoparticles effectively eliminated all the bacteria they tested.
2. Treating small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)
Oregano oil may help treat chronic bacterial issues, such as SIBO. People with SIBO experience gastrointestinal problems due to an overgrowth of certain bacteria in their intestines.
A 2014 study found that herbal remedies, including one that contained high levels of both carvacrol and thymol, were effective tools in treating SIBO.
Exploring the individual effects of each compound will require more research, but these initial findings may be promising.
3. Treating fungal infections
Oregano oil also appears to be a potent antifungal agent thanks to high levels of thymol.
Research from 2015 found thymol to be an effective treatment for common Candida fungal infections.
Candida causes several types of infections, including:
  • oral thrush
  • yeast infections
  • infected toenails or fingernails
  • athlete’s foot
The research was conducted in test tubes, however, and determining oregano oil’s effectiveness will require more studies in humans.
4. Providing antioxidants
Oregano oil is also a potent antioxidant. Antioxidants help protect the body from damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals.
Oxidative stress may lead to increased DNA damage and cell death. Oxidation may also play a role in other issues, such as arthritis, atherosclerosis, and some cancers.
Thymol and carvacrol are powerful antioxidants that may help reduce oxidation. The researchers suggested that further studies explore safe doses for regular use.
5. Reducing inflammation

Oregano may have anti-inflammatory properties.
Some sources claim that oregano oil may help reduce inflammation. The compound carvacrol shows anti-inflammatory effects in both animal models and in vitro studies.
Research from 2017 looked at a variety of investigations into carvacrol’s anti-inflammatory effects.
In one study on mice, the compound prevented obesity by affecting the genes involved in inflammation. In another animal study, the compound reduced swelling.
While the results show promise, the researchers have called for more tests on humans to determine a safe dosage.
6. Healing wounds
Applying diluted oregano oil to the skin may help protect smaller cuts and scrapes on the skin as they heal.
Compounds such as thymol and carvacrol could protect these types of wound from bacterial infections.
7. Repelling insects
Both carvacrol and thymol may be effective insect-repellents. In 2017, researchers found that these compounds repelled some ticks and mosquitos. The research included test tube studies and those with human participants.
More research will help confirm this potential benefit, but rubbing diluted oregano oil on the skin may be a natural way to help repel insects.
8. Relieving pain
There is some evidence that oregano may be an effective pain reliever. An animal study found that an extract of oregano provided pain relief.
These results were dose-dependent — the more the animals took, the more pain relief they felt.
Importantly, the researchers used a water-based extract, so the oil may not provide the same results. More research in humans could help determine an appropriate dose.
9. Aiding weight loss
Oregano oil may also be a helpful tool for people looking to lose weight. Researchers have found that carvacrol, the main compound in oregano oil, disrupts part of the process that leads to the creation and accumulation of fat tissue.
More direct research may help provide additional evidence for these claims.
10. Fighting cancer
Some sources claim that oregano oil may help fight some cancers. One review notes that the essential oil from oregano helps prevent some types of colon cancer and breast cancer from growing in test tubes.
The oil also appeared to inhibit the growth of some lung cancer and prostate cancer cells. Much of the research in cancer comes from test tubes or animal models, so people should view the results with caution and never use oils as a replacement for medical treatment.

How to use

Oregano oil comes in capsules and as a liquid. It is available for purchase in most health food stores and online.
The strength of each oil may vary, so it is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions or work with a qualified healthcare practitioner to determine the safest dose.
People who do not enjoy the taste of oregano should choose the capsules, which can they can swallow without tasting the oil.
To use oregano oil topically for skin issues, dilute one or two drops in a carrier oil. A person can then apply this mixture directly to the skin

Had a patient in panama city FL that slipped and skinned leg up on the slimy boat slip. Contracted a fungus that slowly used his body as a host. the guy eventually went into septic shock. It's no joke...probably needs a couple different types of iv antibiotics as well as an antifungal. Best of luck

The stuff that's been coming down Florida rivers for years is beginning to hit saturation points. On the Peace River we get millions of gallons a day of blended water from Bone Valley - MOSAIC FERTILIZER Phosphate mining - toxic runoff. The EPA allows them to dilute the pollution with water (Bending) so when it hits the outflow where ts measured, it is below EPA acceptable levels. Once it hits the river and accumulates, they don't care. MOSAIC can use up to 70 million gallons a day for this purpose for the next 20 years just on the cost of a permit.

There are all sorts of bacteria problems in Florida's rivers, the flesh-eating one killed a number of people last year. Some of my fishing guide buddies have had small cuts on their hands get infected with the same issues your dad is having and they haven't completely healed for as long as two years. Doctors as you're finding out, kind of experiment with treatments. Good luck maybe call around and ask if they've had any experience with river water infections.
Like 55 yeas ago, I fell into a residential lake down the street from us in North Dade. I was a kid so didn't think much of it at first. However, I had several warts on one of my hands and while walking home they were already falling apart. One big one on looked like cauliflower being pulled apart. Within two days every wart was gone. Never went it fresh water again.

I'm not a medical practitioner and can't give any medical advice.

But if it were me - since the medical community can't do anything for your father - if it were my father, I'd turn to biophysics and find a doctor and clinic where he'd be willing to likewise turn to biophysics. As in - there's no downside.

I'd have the medical practitioner to IV and push 300ml of ascorbic acid into the vein to provide a flash oxidation event. Then I'd orally take two grams of ascorbic acid every two hours for eight hours. ASCOR has the vials ready to shoot - a 100 ml vial will have 50 grams of ascorbic. Three of them will provide the needed 300ml/159 grams for the flash oxidizer effect - much akin to shocking a pool.

(Any venomous snake bite - push 100 ml into a vein - and the venom is all neutralized within - WITHIN - 30 minutes, and you can go about the rest of your day. Moccasin, rattlesnake, krait, cobra, mamba, copperhead, swarm of killer bees, scorpion, brown recluse, black widow, etc.)

Next day, same thing. Some medical practitioners here may suggest that's useless. That's because they're full of - you know.

It should get this under control within four or five days.

But that's only what I would do if it were me - one of my young adult children - or someone I really cared about.

There's some things that just work - and some things that medicine can't do. The trick is doing what works.

One other tidbit - one cannot overdose with IV injection. One can, however, underdose. Better to use more than needed than less than needed.

The alternative is - well - a continuation of the current trend.

One more thing. You're in a hurry, but want an additional anti-microbial remedy that kills every pathogen? Even viruses? Look up how to make your own colloidal silver - they used to even kill polio and every other infection with it - and the best stuff is what you make at home as you control the content. Some silver wire, especially from China - has some unwanted impurities.

So forget the silver wires BS. Go to the pawnshop and get two .999 silver rectangle, one-ounce ingots. Otherwise, follow their directions - and use 27 volts. Distilled water. Put either gauze or clean washrags on the wound, and periodically, soak the gauze/rag with the silver. Nano silver kills every pathogen on contact. Even have a spoonful every couple of hours . . . it works internally too.

These things just work - which is exactly why they're ridiculed by the medical community - funded indirectly by the pharmaceutical community - you can't patent a compound or formula that is found in nature. Can't make any money off it -

Nothing to lose - everything to gain.

But that's just what I'd do for me and mine. I don't recommend this non-medical biophysics process to anyone - as I'm not a licensed medical practitioner.

I would listen to this man, he is trained to survive in the harshest conditions; at all costs.
