OT: Gus M at Auburn fired...

Which is why the fact that Miami isnt currently a high revenue program isn't pertinent to the question of whether Miami has money to have a better program. It's all about boosters. Believe or not, Miami has lots of alumni (and non alum fans like A-Rod) with very deep pockets. They will give $$$ if Miami looks like a winner. I would not give Blake James a nickel. It's not a chicken and egg thing - at some point the program has to win with what it is has, then the donations will come in. Had Miami beaten UNC, then won a NY6 game and finished top 6, money would have been pouring in. Instead this season will mark the 15th in a row that Miami has not finished in the top 10. We probably didn't even need to beat UNC to finish the season top 10. It we'd lost a close game, Miami drops to #14, with an impressive bowl win, we could have snuck into the top 10. What happened yesterday was such an utter embarrassment that the donors likely sent Blake James's number to the FTC to place on the Do Not Call list.
It took the school begging for nickels to get to $40M to BUILD A BUILDING and you think alumni will pony up $25M a year +/- to keep us in the same league as the big boys?

All of the teams that will be making the CFP this year have more than $100M annually in football revenue .... UM has $50M

A few things:

1. We're constantly losing to chitty teams in the Coastal and the ACC. We have more talent and spend more money than those teams, yet we consistently lose to them. Perhaps it is more than just spending the money. We clearly have and spend enough money to dominate the chitty teams we play. In fact, besides Clemson (who we don't play annually), who do we play in the ACC that outspends us? Manny just got donkey punched by a retread on $3.5MM/year. Do you want Mack Brown? Mark Richt was making more than Brown and he was another retread loser. Richt was making $4MM/year (see below).

2. Waste. We waste a ton of money here in Coral Gables. We not only waste money, we repeat mistakes constantly. What type of loser promotes a DC from a failed regime? His name was Paul Dee and he promoted Randy Shannon. This time our midget tranny ***ing AD, who needed 5 years to graduate from Minnesota State Mankato, paid $4MM for the rights to promote a loser from a failed regime.

Do you see the waste? Why not put that $4MM into an actual coach? At UM, we waste money. We throw money away on buyouts and unnecessary extensions. Waste, waste and waste. Zero results, plenty of waste.

3. We've seen teams spend endless amounts of money and get nothing. Michigan and Texas come to mind. I am not saying we can spend this amount of money but we clearly outspend the dreck we lose to in the Coastal. Money doesn't guarantee results. I am not saying we can compete with Bama or Clemson. With that said, we certainly have enough to do a lot better than we currently do. We certainly have enough to win the Coastal ever year and finish the regular season with 10 wins.

4. Perhaps the answer isn't the coach. Perhaps the answer is leadership. It is a simple fix but at UM we hate simple solutions. Fire Blake James and bring in a competent AD with passion and autonomy.

How about before putting the cart in front of the horse and talk about the playoffs, we have a disciplined, tough team that puts its players in positions to succeed. Plenty of teams spend less and do more, and even more teams do more with less talent.

We had money to get Cristobal last offseason, but it would be even better if we would be innovative and forward thinking and pick the right up and coming coach.

We have enough to destroy the teams in the Coastal. We have enough to destroy La Tech and FIU. Why don't we start by dominating these losers first and then we can worry about Bama and Clemson?

100%... because we have an undisciplined, soft team led by an undisciplined, soft coach. Manny wasn’t the guy last year and he isn’t the guy now. But there are plenty of coaches who earn the same amount and have teams that never look like we did yesterday.

A few weeks back someone mentioned how Diaz would go nuts on the sidelines when he first came here as DC - on refs, players, etc. I’m not sure where that fire went but he looks shell shocked at this point.

People said the same thing about a small school in South Carolina with 23,000 students. You know how much profit they made in 2010? A grand total of 14 million.

Miami currently has the 9th most lucrative apparel deal in CFB.

In 2018, which school spent more money on their program-- Clemson or Miami? If you guessed Clemson you'd be wrong.

Miami spent more on their program than Clemson. Miami spent 56 million. Clemson spent 55 million.

Miami is spending plenty of money on the program, they just aren't getting results because incompetent people are running the show. If Miami was winning like Clemson, boosters would be throwing money at the program. It's just too easy to plead poverty as an excuse for failure.

And when you say Miami can't compete against the big boys - how about the ACC coastal? We don't have money to win the division more than once since joining the conference? When Miami keeps winning 10+ games a season and losing in the ACC championship game every year, you can make then make the argument that Miami can't run with the big dogs. When you can't win the worst division in P5 more than once in almost 20 years, money isn't the problem.

Miami is in the 25-30 range in revenues ..... and we have been in the 25-30 range in the rankings the last 15 years. Its not a coincidence.

Yes Miami has made ****** hires and wasted money. That is indisputable, but what is also indisputable is that the teams perennially in the top 10 spend a LOT more on football than Miami does. Spending isn't just the head coach. Its the staff, the support staff, the medical staff (Scalvo ... c'mon), analysts, recruiting staff, recruiting budgets, etc. We don't have the money to spend at the upper echelon of NCAAF.

Is all of this a fatal blow? Not necessarily but the divide gets greater every year.

Who is talking about the top 10? My post is very clear. I am talking about the Coastal. I am talking about the dreck we play on the regular. I am not talking about Clemson or Bama or _______.

Rankings of what by the way?

Not sure if you were unaware or just trying to be misleading but the Clemson IPTAY booster group contributed >$40M a year the last 5 years which goes on top of the $55M you referred to. The football budgets between the two schools aren't even close.

The fact is that there are 20 schools that have revenues/spending at least 50% more than Miami.

It doesn't mean we can't compete but it does mean we have to be better and more efficient at utilizing our resources than just about every other team typically in the top 20. We are the St Louis Cardinals .... decent budget but dwarfed by the Cubs/Dodgers.

So you change the topic from my original post and then somehow try to chastise me about it? Got it.

The topic all emanated from making the CFP. IDGAF if we beat Duke/GT ever year for the rest of eternity if it doesn't mean we are ever competing with the top teams in NCAAF.

I am not.

I am asking you why are you concerned with the CFP when we’re getting skullfuked by losers in the Coastal?

1. We have a lot more talent than these teams.
2. We spend a lot more than these teams.
3. We still lose to these teams.

Perhaps the real issue is why can’t we dominate these losers with our massive advantages?

Serious question, is it better to be that crazy and possibly get better results, or be a little less crazy and accept less from the results? I believe everything you wrote but I don’t know which is better, and maybe that was your point.

Fans are short for fanatics. Lol. So I’m not sure what’s best. Some ppl take fandom more serious than others. I think if u want results, then yeah u gotta be a little bit on the crazy side. Not serial killer crazy, but crazy. If not, then u’re a casual fan that is more fair weather than an actual fan.

Hes 77-38 as a head coach. He also goes against LSU, Florida, Georgia and Alabama Every year. He actually can develop talent. Malzahn has forgot more football then Manny knows. Manny is a delegator, he's only as good as his Cordinators.
He's perfectly fine with a 7-4 season. Supposedly, some boosters caught wind of him saying those words and that was the end for him. He's supposed to be a quarterback whisperer but that's not true. Nick Marshall was the last quarterback that actually looked good in his system. The other quarterbacks he signed all regressed or transferred out. Look at it this way, he wanted to make Malik Willis a wide receiver.

Yeah that seems to be his achilles heel. He's got a Great offensive mind but his downfall has always been his lack of finding quality QBs
