looking at Rutgers pre-schiano and post-schiano. im not sure he is as bad as we thought we was.

Some coaches are good at making terrible teams respectable. Making the jump from respectable to contender is another story. How many times did Schiano get Ruters to 8-0 and a top 5 ranking only to finish the season 9-3 and out of the polls? That was also in the watered-down, post Miami Big East. I do believe he knows defense but I would never hire him for anything above coordinator.

He’s a program builder, not a natty winner. He’d be good at a Rutgers/Maryland program where he can get 7-9 wins a year and everyone is happy.

Mark Richt is Greg Schiano. Greg Schiano is Mark Richt.

Not even close. Richt has won at a better rate against better competition than all but a small handful of coaches in college football.

Schiano also was the coarch at Rutgers before they were in the BigTen. His teams were decent for Rutgers standards, but they would have no chance at 9 games in the BigTen.

He's 83-37 in last 10 years, 69% winning percentage. That's losing 3 out of 10 games.

I do agree with your post but it is a tad misleading. Most coaches aren't afforded a 15+ year run at a program. He earned it.. but obviously it wasn't good enough. UGA sure doesn't look like they miss him.

This is EXACTLY how I feel about Richt, with a slightly higher expectation in wins.

Why does that make everyone so mad? Is UGA not confirmation of this?

Uga is not Miami, we have had 4 different coaches win rings at Miami and they weren’t sh*t before getting here. Richt outclasses each of their careers before getting to Miami and it isn’t close.

I'm just saying, comparing him to Greg Schiano is completely unfair, bordering on ridiculous. Schiano's best seasons are akin to Richt's worst. All while Richt was coaching in the SEC and Schiano was coaching in the Big Least. A better comparison would probably someone like Mac Brown. Generally a winner but not good enough for the fanbase. (I'll give Mac credit for his natty tho.)
