OT Gophers Rashod Bateman opts out of Jr year

All projected 1st and 2nd rounders in the upcoming draft should opt out. You’d have to be crazy to play this season.

If Greg Rousseau were anywhere near smart he’d be setting up a press conference to announce his decision to sit right now, today

or seeing that its unfair for these athletes to not see a dime of what they have rightfully earned while everyone else profits off of them
They do get paid in the form of a non taxable Scholarship, including room and board . You seriously think most players would make more after taxes If they had to pay their own way but could profit off their nil?? For Miami, they would have to make 100k to cover the 73k a year they get as part of their scholarship
-who are u saying should pay them Btw? School or they should just profit off their nil? Because it matters who u think should pay them

Why just this season? You think their nfl future is more at risk with COVID than an injury?

I can’t believe my eyes reading some of these post. This is a CFB board, correct? A CFB board that’s supposed to be full of Canes fans; yet we have some suggesting....HOPING an off brand league like the XFL replaces CFB which means this team on this site that we “allegedly” root for????!

WTF is going on around here; like real ?

So does Johnny 3rd string JAG get paid the same amount as Greg or king? Or Roche? How’s this gonna work.

Only a cowardly world with no dignity....

Not sure if still true but kiper had him as a top 10 player overall. Top talent (I think) will continue to opt out, but plenty behind them will be hungry for a starting role.

Nah, mang! Odds are we won’t finish this season...that’s too big of a risk for that young man.

This will be a 2-4 game CFB season, before things get shut down
NCAA looks like a mess as a whole, do they even have a standard protocol? VT players were complaining of sharing mask, WTF?!

I dont understand how they plan to have a season if every school isnt held to same standards. If you start having outbreaks at smaller places, perception will shut everything down before camp gets 2 weeks in, wont even make it to season.

Leadership overall seems to be lacking from everyone, it seems like their plan is just wait and hope virus goes away

That's an opinion not a fact. So it is what it is but I disagree with your take....

Whats this man said

True indeed, and I 100% respect your take, but my premise is shaped by this view: the NCAA hasn’t established a baseline, there is no uniformity or structure in testing, no standards for enforcement, no standard operating procedures, and each school has enacted their own rules of the game. That’s a recipe for failure when you have this many moving parts, AND when you’re dealing with human beings (see VT). Wild-***, typically **** raising, and unruly 18-22 year old human male athletes, on a college campus, at that.

It’s a house of cards. I think it’ll be a 2-4 game season, at best, before it crashes to the ground.

So how does that kill his draft stock?

Oh wait, it doesn't. At all. But the next time you post something intelligent on this board will be the first, so it's not like anyone expected anything different.

There’s about a $25mil difference between pick 1 and 32, even if you’re a first round lock you’re risking a ton by sitting out. Not saying he’s right or wrong just the reality of the economics

Yep. Remember when Jonathan Allen from Bama said he did the math and saw how much more he could make by returning for his senior year? Im sure someone there in the athletic department helped him understand that math but still.

Why only this season then? Why not every sophmore/redshirt freshman that's projected to be a 1st round sit out? Players are more likely to suffer an injury playing than they are to suffer some type of long term injury from Covid. So if Covid is the reason all these guys are opting out, why not do it every other year in fear of getting injured?

Gophers WR Rashod Bateman opted out of junior season. He was projected by many to be a first round talent for the next draft. As a true freshman in 2018 he had 51 receptions for 704 yards and as a sophomore he had 60 for 1219 yards.
Little Mac is the man btw.

Most people are not giving these kids this type of info.. Especially at miami, even guys like kaaya leave early to drop like a rock. **** is a mess

A couple projected first round picks have already opted out. I’m just sayin’, dog.

We are in the middle of the biggest financial crisis in nearly 100 years (91), and you think it’s smart for a projected first rounder to risk millions? Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyt (dude from the Wire’s voice)

And Rousseau is probably top 10 right now!

I just don’t see the wisdom in it. Not one Iota!! <DBC voice>
