OT: First Miami home game ever.

You're probably closest to Hallendale Beach but since it's 99% condo buildings, you're better off just going slightly north to Hollywood beach. Plenty to see and do on the broadwalk. Everything from fine dining on the intercoastal to mom and pop pizza joints.

You can hit Wynwood, South Beach or even the UM campus but it will be quite a ride to any of those places from your hotel. You're actually closer to Broward county than Miami proper.

Can anyone give me info on the “fan zone” at the game that opens before the games? How is it? Is it worth going too? Or nahh.. just trying to experience it all, I know I’m hitting up the canes walk for sure.

Yea bro, if its your first time in miami, I would scratch stadium hotel. Get an airbnb or something else for similar price range. If you want to be more in city near wynwood I got a really good recommendation with full kitchen. Kinda like a studio in a newer building but much nicer that stadium hotel.

Far from stadium, but closer to beach, grove, the university, coral gables, etc.
 
Your hotel is near, well the stadium, but not much else. If you are renting a car then you can get anywhere from there but don’t plan many strolls with the wife. I use to hunt dove and quail where the hotel sits— I’m old. It was all just sand and grass before Calder Race Track was built. Did crash at the hotel a couple times in late 70’s when I was too drunk to drive any further. Not too bad but for a visit to south Florida, something close to the beach, any beach might be better for young couple.

You were there before Calder was built? Wow. We moved to Miramar in the 70's, there were cows on the other side of University, and Miramar Parkway ended at Douglas, at the bowling alley.

****, I remember 27th ave (university in broward) being gravel north of 163 st. I was a kid then so I’m not sure it ran across the broward line at the time. Most of south broward stopped at Douglas on the west side back then.

You have to be the slowest driver in the world to take 10 mins to get to the stadium from his hotel, that **** is 2 mins tops.
