OT: Ever been a victim of random stupid vandalism?

My wife had all 4 of her tires stolen in the middle of the night last year. Left her car on blocks. We live in a relatively nice suburb in NJ too. Neighbors couldn’t believe it.

U that sucks....you never think it could happen....then it does

Had my car window smashed when I was living in SF, dude stole my gym bag. I sort of blamed myself for leaving the bag in the back seat.

I wouldn't downplay it as merely "stupid vandalism." Given the cost of most tires, to have destroyed that many is felony destruction of property. That's many thousands of dollars of damage. 20 cars x 4 tires/car x average $100/tire (that's a low average) is $8000 in damage!

NO SH*T!! & that's if you get the cheapest tires.

We had ours replaced with the recommended brand and those babies run $175,00/per....but your thought isn't lost.

Fortunately several of my neighbors cameras recorded him. So they have a good shot of him on camera happily stabbing away.

The idiot also cut himself pretty bad and left a great deal of blood on 3 of the cars:zczkqmritjdsoaq.jpg:..probably the only reason he stopped.......so now when they pick him up he'll have no alibi.

In Total he damaged 22 cars... most had lost all four tires destroyed.....for what?? ....As a prank?? For giggles??

Will now be facing felony charges ......ruined his future....and more than likely..... one of his own friends where he's hiding ....will turn him in for the reward

That really sucks, man. Disrespect for the property of others is something that I have never understood. It's just such a low character move to trash another man's personal belongings (and especially to do so outside his presence). It would be worth the damage to catch the guy in the process...

Not-so quick story. In my early twenties, I once got into a drunken scrap with two (also drunk) Japanese guys in ***ushima prefecture near Iwaki train station. I was living in Japan, so I had a decent enough bicycle that I would ride around most places or to the train station. Lots of people park their bikes in rows (unchained) near train stations in Japanese cities, and my bike was there while I was eating dinner and drinking with some friends.

After dinner, I walked into the MiniStop (think 7-11) to grab some (more) beers. When I turn the corner to get my bike, these two drunk idiots in their mid 20s were going bicycle to bicycle literally tossing every bike into the street. They had at least two dozen bicycles strewn about behind them. At about 30 feet from them, I recognized they had my bike in their hands to toss it. I yelled at them while it happened and shocked the **** out of them, but the one guy tossed my bike anyway. I ran over yelling, but they spoke no English and my Japanese was **** at the time. The old man who worked at the MiniStop heard us and came out to yell at that. At one point, a switch flipped and I smacked one guy across the side of his head, knocking his hat off, then I stepped on his hat and spilled my beer on his head as he tried to pick up the hat. The other (bigger) one threw a punch and all three of us fought on the sidewalk in front of the train station for maybe two minutes before the police arrived.

I gave better than I took, especially considering there were two of them. As a foreigner in a smallish city in Japan, I expected to get arrested, have my visa revoked, and get sent back home. Instead, the older gentleman must have explained what happened, and the police officer wrote them both up and apologized to me. Twilight zone moment, and to this day the only time a police officer has apologized to me.

Jerks bent the front rim of my bike. I had to go into work the next morning moused up and with tattered knuckles and lie to my boss. I lost a beer and had to drunkenly explain myself to a Japanese police officer with my visa on the line. With the benefit of about fifteen additional years of maturity and experience, I can honestly say it was still worth it.

@MainLineCane , it is my sincere hope that those young punks who messed with you and your neighbors' property face a similar day of reckoning someday soon.

This morning while taking out the trash, one of my neighbors pointed out that all the cars parked on the street had ALL their tires slashed 20+ cars......including mine:eek:

Very nice Philly Area MainLine neighborhood with almost nonexistent crime .....so this was totally unexpected.

I cannot tell you how angry this has made everyone here. Crime sucks!! Random BS crime sucks even worse....and apparently you cannot move away from it.

But we'll live, and everything is replaceable....worse things have happened to others so this is very small in the scheme of things

Yet it is so frustrating, expecting to use your car, which we only parked on the street TODAY because we have contractors using our driveway to remodel our bathrooms, then not being able to start your day right away as normal.

Luckily we have insurance who responded quickly, and provided us with a rental car.

I wish whoever did this the worst possible luck in the future, and pray that they are caught. No excuse for this B.S....but we'll live and life goes on
Teenage boys are idiots. That's all you need to know.

$100 per tire? I don’t even think you can find go cart tired for a hundred bucks anymore.

Crime in Main Line? Where at? Ardmore? Bala Cynwyd? Narberth? I'm very familiar with that area.
Sorry thishas happened to you. Ive been a victim, living in quiet Kansas City Northland.

If you hadn't mentioned the city and asked me to guess where it happened, I would have guessed Philadelphia. I've been all around the world from Iran to Africa to Mexico, and there is no place ****tier than Philly. I visited one time and literally within 10 min of driving from the airport I saw the some drunk white guy vomit out a car window while driving so that his puke hit the cars behind, then no less than 3 min later I saw 5 black teenagers basically curbstomping another kid on the sidewalk. At least the ****tiness is spread equally among all races. Racial harmony. No joke, kid was laying on the ground and he was getting kicked in the head. I called 911 and told the dispatcher, "I just drove by a street corner and a kid is getting beaten to death." Dispatch said, "Ok." That was the response. I then asked if they wanted the street name, and the dispatch said, "Ummm.. sure. What street."

I f#cking hate that place. I think Bill Burr summarized it well.

To each his own

I enjoy it here just like I enjoy almost anywhere else I go ....but that's me:D.

BUT I also know that you can have a bad time ANYWHERE....especially if you don't know where to go:6fps6: ...or if you go to the wrong places:mad:

So thanks for the "tip".....I really didn't know that the Philly area now has an exclusive monopoly on crime. Guess we can all rest easy everywhere else...... I might even start leaving our home and cars in Florida unlocked from now on whenever we're up here in Philly or traveling elsewhere.....sure would save on paying house sitters and alarm fees...especially since crime or bad things only happens in the Philly area

I don't know you or really care whether you like this area or not....BUT I am sorry that you or anyone else had a bad time in Philly or ANYWHERE for that matter....(BTW I love Bill Burr & been to many of his sets here in Philly, he's hilarious).....as I said, I've enjoyed and had a good time almost anywhere I've gone....I would wish the same for anyone

One thing thing that I do know.....Philly certainly is NOT for everyone,...... especially the timid.

For instance, men with high pitched voices, who dress poorly, who are jumpy & look like prey, who are wide eyed and can't stop quickly looking around, scream when they hear loud noises or deep voices .....always seem to have an especially bad time in Philly.

They have trouble getting women to talk to them or drinks from waitresses, are served poorly at restaurants, and are generally treated like sh*t...so anyone with those attributes I would definitely urge to avoid coming here.

There are lots great times to be had here....... but as you've acknowledged yourself & I agree......not everyone gets to experience them.

Had my car radio stolen when I was in highschool right out of our driveway. ****ers.

Speaking of Philly, actually surrounding areas, wtf is it with the stupid alcohol ordinances in some of these areas. At least a few years ago, anyway.

A few years back was in a meeting off the main line, went for some dinner, wanted a beer with my sushi, and was told I had to go get it like at a package store or some fūcked up place like that. This wasn’t Philly, but somewhere near like Valley Forge, King of Prussia or around that general area.
