I won't crap on him. He's just a guy who never should have been here in the first place. I will crap on the previous staff for offering guys who should never have been here in the first place.

no, he tried to pass and over-strided and it still got knocked down.Did he tear the hamstring out of anger after losing the starting job to a true freshman?
Who was worse Sherriffs or Spencer Whipple?
They have reached the depths they were stuck in 20 years ago. Man, they are bad.
In all fairness, when he WAS put in, it was in really crappy situations. The only mop up duty I ever remember him getting was against Bethune. Every other time was against a D with their ears pinned back, and only for a possession. Not exactly ideal circumstances for a guy with no experience. There's a reason playing time is critical, and there's a reason he never got more playing time. The **** games were ALL too close to get him in. How anyone can judge a guy on 7 passes is beyond me. Actually, it's not.Every time I hear the "Anybody But Rosier" crowd pipe up and say bringing in the backup can't be worst I think of how they have no short term memory what so ever. Same thing was being said at the end of last year. They got their wish, and then got real quite for the rest of the year. I will admit I was a bit in that camp until the switch was made last year.
Chris Walsh. Alan Hall.Who was worse Sherriffs or Spencer Whipple?
Why? Did Florida State?I don’t think it was a bad move for Rutgers, though the B1G probably would have received better athletic programs had the choice been UCONN. UCONN’s “3rd” home is Miadison Square Garden.
Rutgers just needs to pony up for a real coach.
Factually, it’s hard for a school to know what they’re getting. But, if a Rutgers can find a Boise State like “Petersen”-type who is not in a hurry to leave, they can turn it around.
Not old enough to remember those two.Chris Walsh. Alan Hall.

Chris was Steve's brother. Freshman about 1994. Nationally-ranked blue Chip. When he arrived at UM, he had a horrendous problem with his mechanics, a very strange hitch in his throwing motion that nobody could help him fix. I guess he did not show it in HS. I watched him in warmups during a spring game, I think it was '94. It was an obvious problem, a kind of dip and wind-up.Rumor was that all kinds of people tried to help him, even Dan Marino. Left the program, transferred back to to U-Minn and oblivion. Not old enough to remember those two.
Some of us looked at his HS film when we got him. The film was very impressive. The guy who brought the film was someone who spent a lot of time around the recruiting office for years and no doubt has seen a lot of film. This guy was extremely impressed by the film. I also looked at some practice highlights someone posted here. Again, he looked good. Don't understand why it didn't translate into game performance.I won't crap on him. Sometimes a guy needs a lot more game experience to get a rhythm and feel comfortable. I remember when Vinnie Testaverde came in for a few series in 1982 and was lackluster. He didn't start until 1985 and became the best player in the country in 1986.
I think this guy Shirreffs might have had more potential than people think. Fans, especially here, are quick to pass judgement and condemn.
Good thing I wasn’t around for that lolChris was Steve's brother. Freshman about 1994. Nationally-ranked blue Chip. Alan Hall was a top HS QB going into his senior year in Jacksonville. Think he had a disappointing senior year, came to UM and was severely overweight. Left after his freshman year, I think. Disappeared into oblivion, too. I think that was 1990.
Yes. I currently live in the school district he came out of. While the HS is very supportive of their program and have had a bit of success in the past from what I understand...it is still a lower level league. The team actually lost to Oconee to start this year...the team Max Johnson is the QB on. The league they play in is not the greatest. Gwinnett where Jarren Williams played is much tougher competition. This is another reason to look very deeply at Max cause he may not really be as good as people think he is.I remember seeing a highlight tape and he looked impressive against poor competition. His issues weren't mental, they were physical. He did not have the caliber arm to play FBS football. There's a reason why his offer list was very short and Miami was the only major conference school to give him an offer. I know we've had success with guys who didn't have the strongest arms but compared to Shireffs, those guys were John Elway.
