Amazing how these kids go to these schools that just 50 years ago were still fighting to keep black players out of their teams....

Yeah Bear Bryant and Bama, looking at you, guy started recruiting black players because his teams started getting their *** kicked
I guess KKK money is good money. If you make it to the NFL you can take a knee to make up for it.

@grunt king since you are seeing things thru the color of players skin....

Actually my post was tongue-in-cheek by using the Stanford team who has a lot of white players. I really don't give a shiit about the color of somebodies skin. If I did I would function with a racial agenda... and being an old hippie I have remnants of that old philosophy "love everyone", My parents never instilled racism in me... God Bless their souls.

I watched the video/documentary. Koodoos to ESPN for telling the truth. During the 60's to early 70's, the HBCU's produced more NFL players than the rest of college football. With segregation, they showcased their talents in front of all black audiences that filled stadiums equal to those of white audiences. The irony is that the most segregated schools desegregated not for fairness or equality, but rather to profit and exploit what these top black athletes could bring to their universities.

Schools on the West Coast integrated much sooner than those in the South. In 1970, the integrated USC football team played Alabama's all white football team at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. USC's players at the QB and RB positions were black featuring Sam "Bam" Cunningham. The game was nearly canceled because USC's team was integrated with black players. USC beat Alabama by 3 touchdowns. The rest as they say, "is history."
The Integration of College Football Didn't Happen in One Game

You may not be aware of the fact that Tuscaloosa, Alabama (Home of the U. of Alabama) was the headquarters of the KKK until 1987 when a court awarded Beula Mae Donald the deed to the 5,000 sq/ft property as part of a civil suit for the brutal murder of her son Michael Donald in 1981 by the KKK. If not for this lawsuit, they'd probably still be there today.
The 1981 Lynching that Bankrupted an Alabama KKK

It's amazing that these same institutions deep with segregated roots are at the top of college football at a time when the country is so divided and many of the people in those states follow such divisive ideologies. The same states enacting voter suppression legislation/laws aimed towards suppressing minority political and social gains are benefiting the most from black athletes.
The new voting restrictions Southern voters face in the midterm election

Hate groups in Alabama on the rise, including KKK (2017)

Although the documentary covers the 150 years of college football, I found the segregation segment the most compelling and would encourage everyone to watch . the entire documentary. It's kind of a history lesson on college football. To understand where it's going, you have to understand where it's been.

Knowledge is Power!!!

It would be really interesting to see what would happen if over a 2 year period, the top 300 or so black athletes went to black colleges in football and basketball.

I’ve often argued that if the fab 5 went to an HBCU instead of Michigan it would’ve changed basketball significantly. And I write this as a 60 year old white man

The football teams would be great and the kids that didn't make it to the NFL would be schit out of luck when they started trying to get real jobs. Especially the basketball kids. There is a reason why the top basketball schools are generally great academically ie. Duke and UNC. Even the Ivies generally get good kids who know they aren't good enough to make the NFL and now they are making more than their peers who made the NFL.

Unless you are a generational talent who knows for a fact they are going to have a long NFL career, you would be a complete idiot to go to an HBCU instead of a P5 college with actual good academics.

HBCUs aren't even a benefit to the culture. I would much rather have the elite black kids go to the Ivies and make 9-10 figures a year so that they could give that money back to their communities, instead of having the best guys go to HBCUs and learn a little extra about "the culture".

You have a tendency of posting misinformed stuff. HBCUs aren’t a benefit to the culture? Smh. My goodness... Haha.

Please inform me how they are a benefit to the culture? You have no idea what you are talking about.

If anything they are a detriment because uniformed people while choose to go to one of these schools instead of much better academic institutions because they don't want to "sell out".

Castro Jr is upset

Castro Jr. is you, Cuck Slayer. The Left has always been the party that sided with Socialism/Communism. You’re an idiot. Please read a history book.

Also, why do you have to start political **** on CiS?!? This site is for talking everything Canes, not for attacking other people’s political or religious beliefs/preferences.

Yeah, so a kid with no degree from a P5 school, is better off than a kid with a degree from an HBCU...got it.

WTF are you even talking about? So you think if all top 300 kids from one class started going to HBCUs they would all graduate? They wouldn't leave after 3 years? Try to actually use your brain when you are arguing with someone.

So you actually believe these players would stick around another year, risk an injury, etc. Just because the school has black in its name?

If you are not willing to stick around and get an actual good degree from a P5 school, there is no way your are going to waste another year just to get some borderline community college degree.

Borderline community college? Im sorry but HBCUs might be underfunded but dont disrespect the quality of education of them.

They are underfunded because most of their grads don't make enough money to give back to the school. Do you think its a coincidence that the best schools have the biggest endowments? You send your son to an HBCU and I will send mine to an actual good school.

If my son was only smart enough to get into an HBCU I would send him to a community college instead, save the extra money, have him get a nursing degree or another degree that will earn him more money than the guys going to an HBCU.

Thats not necessarily true.

Howard Law School, FAMU engineering school, Morehouse Business school are up there with some of the best in the country. You can find great academic programs at HBCUs
