OT: Eric Crouch

His rushing numbers were really good for the time but those passing numbers are straight garbage. It’s almost like the couldn’t let Miami win everything that year.

Also, if you want a good laugh, check out Tommy Frazier’s numbers at Nebraska. That’s the guy Nebraska fans say would lead the 95 Nebraska team to victory over 2001 Miami

I disagree re Tommie.

In 1995- Frazier threw for 1300 yards and 8.4 yards / attempt with 17:4 ratio + 600 more yards rushing (sack yards included) and 14 TD's (more than Philips and Green, two NFL RB's on his same roster). 31 total TD's.

In comparison, 94 Kordell Stewart 2000+600 and 17 total TD's; 88 Tony Rice 1100+700 17 total TD's, 99 Mike Vick 2000+600 22 total TD's, 98 McNabb 2100+400 and 30 total TD's, 93 Charlie Ward 3000+300 and 31 total TD's, 97 Scott Frost 1200+1000 and 24 TD's and 5:4 TD:INT.

In 2001- Dorsey threw for 2600 yards (we know he didn't run for ****) and 8.3 yards / attempt with 28:12 ratio.

Nebraska per game 400 yards rushing alone, 550 total, 53.2 PPG (vs 4 ranked opponents: 8, 7, 10, 2) allowed 14.5 PPG

Miami per game 450 total yards, 42.7 PPG (vs 5 ranked opponents: 14, 14, 12, 14, 4) allowed 9.8 PPG

While, yes, he's probably the worst Heisman winner ever, McGahee not winning (yes I'm aware the next season) is still the biggest snub.
Running backs have an uphill battle. Unless your a bama RB. Marshall Faulk had a few years he should’ve been in contention too. But it’s gonna take an act of god for anyone on this team to get another one considering what happened to McGahee and Dorsey.

If I recall correctly, Crouch was drafted as a running back. I don’t know which makes less sense, Crouch winning the Heisman or Crouch being drafted as an RB.

Well it does make more sense than drafting him to play QB, but yeah, not much sense.

Worst EVER covers a long time. In my lifetime, off the top of my head, I'd say Terry Baker in 1960 was worse. Gary Beban in 1966 was worse. OJ got robbed that year, but he made up for it by killing people later.
Good point, and as bad as it is now with people not really watching outside of their region, those guys voted without seeing most of the players at all.

He was drafted as a WR. Dude ran a 4.47, 4.02 shuttle, 36 vert, 3-cone 6.87 at 6' 210. Faster 40 than KJ Osborn, same vert as Jeff Thomas, his shuttle would've been the best for WR's at the Combine this year, 3-cone would've been 2nd fastest this yer.

He's one of the worst, ya.

Also bad...Chris Weinke.

Eric Crouch never really bought in completely to being a WR. It was a thing leading up to the draft. Rams took him a little earlier than some anticipated hoping they could convince him to really buy in and he just never really did. Gave up relatively quick, too. Gave back his whole signing bonus. Unfortunate, he was a legit athlete and if he bought in, probably would have played in the league for a long time. Uber short area quickness white slot WR? Just missed his time. In the same NFL Draft, Antwaan Randle-El bought in and had a nice NFL career from the slot.

The truth is he didn’t deserve it that year. The harder truth as a canes fan is Ken Dorsey didn’t deserve it either. I know he’s a legend at the U but the more old film I watch I realize he was just a decent QB surrounded by great talent. So many under thrown passes and poor passes that his cast made up for him. He was a great leader but just an above average quarterback, however he’s still my QB!

The worst ever. Not to mention he quit on the team because Bobby Newcombe was the more talented QB. Frank Solich had to beg him to return to NU.

Facts.

His rushing numbers were top 30 at the time.

Crouch got it essentially as a career achievement award, since at the time, he was one of only a couple QBs ever to get 4000 pass / 3000 rush yds. It's chicken crap that the voters did that, but it's just one of many things voters gave NU that they didn't deserve

Woooofff!!! They were better off letting Kenny D & Willis split the **** thing. I know Crouch won it with his legs but **** man. I saw his passing stats and said to myself he should've led the country in rushing to at least feign some validity for nominating him let alone Crouch winning it. This ol' left hand can't throw **** accurately except for a punch but ****, even I could've thrown for a 1:1 TD:INT ratio behind their O-line...

Eric Crouch was that team. Quick name ANYONE ELSE from that team.....anyone. They beat the defending national champ on a crouch TD reception, he was some kind of amazing number of the total offense for NU that year, and have i mentioned that he was that WHOLE team. Some of you aren't old enough to remember or just to **** much of a homer to put any kind context around this.

Ken Dorsey....I LOVE KEN DORSEY....but compare what Ken D had to what Eric C had around him and it's no contest, not.....even.....close.

You want a worse Heisman....looked at the supped up system numbers of dudes like Jason White, Andre Ware, and people like that.

Andre Ware threw for 4700 yards and 44 TDS in the 80s, unheard of numbers back then and his team finished Top 15, can’t fault voters voting for him

That Nebraska team was garbage on the offensive side of the ball, the defense carried the team the entire year and the one game the defense didn’t show up, Crouch couldn’t keep up and had one of his worst games of the season, he’ll in Oklahoma game took a trick play to get his lone TD of the game. The only team they beat was Oklahoma 20-10 and the next best record of the team they beat was 7-5, they got crushed by the other decent team they played in Colorado

Sorry the guy was horrific playing against teams barely G5 level
