OT: Dabo gets Extension worth $6.5M/year

The reason Golden MIGHT have survived if Clemson hadn't bent him over a barrel on national television was his contract.

You may not be aware of this but Miami is notoriously cheap and if he'd lost to Clemson by a more reasonable margin (say 44-21) and won the remainder of the games as we did to finish 8-4 then there is good reason to believe Miami would have given him another year and not bought him out (in which case the school would have been forced to pay a new coach on top of that). The flop at Clemson was so ridiculed nationally that he had to go. How in the world would you attract recruits and convince them that Miami was up and coming when they got cornholed on national TV? So I am not thanking Dabo, but the reality is that if he'd called off the dogs and let Miami score some garbage points with fifth and sixth stringers, Golden might have survived due to his buyout. 58-0 was such an embarrassment that the AD had to make a move.

That type of money going to a college coach is ridiculous, even more so when he's likely not even the highest paid in the country.

Is it though? Look at what FSU, Bama, OSU, and Clemson get out of their staffs. Seems well worth it to me.

Only a moron thinks Gluten wasn't getting fired. The only question was when. You must be like those delusional wezzies that think they were personally responsible for getting Folden fired.

The when is what matters most.. and yes I think the banners (outside pressure) / Clemson debacle forced the administrations hand. I have no doubt they planned on letting him stay another year. (which means no Richt and definitely no recruits) You're better than this.

Nope...he was gone. The die was already cast for 2015. But go ahead and believe your delusion.

I was never an anti-banner person, not one post against that. So don't start that shīt.

I just think there's a bunch of delusional little people with no power in their lives that think they were instrumental in getting him fired. He was already toast, and the entire fan base as a whole had turned on him before that. Coaches never survive that. It's been reported that there was already a vocal contingent of the BOT that wanted his *** gone before 2015. So no, a few delusional fans did not get him fired. He was fired because the entire fan base was extremely hostile to him and because he sucked.

LOL...Swinney did call the dogs off, and we still couldn't do $h!t.

Coaches do survive that when they are at a historically cheapskate school, have a crazy buyout clause, and an administration focused more on having a squeaky clean program than winning. It's a business and you have to weigh firing him, paying his buyout, and paying a new head coach over just letting him finish his contract. I don't think the fans had much to do with the firing, it was more the donors and BOT who were so embarrassed that no argument could be made for Golden. It's all about money and he might have cost too much to fire. Like or not, Dabo did put the final nail in the coffin.

So once/if Richt provides us number 6 are we digging in the piggy bank to get his yearly compensation up from $4M/year? Can we afford to pay Richt more?

Dabo Swinney, Clemson Reportedly Agree to 8-Year, $54 Million Contract Extension | Bleacher Report

After what Dabo thinks he did "to us", but did "for us", I'd be fine with Miami kicking in a little money for him as well. Beating Bama was just the cherry on top. All I know is he'd never be paying for a drink in my presence.

And since no good deed goes unpunished, I can't wait for the Canes to start laying a beating on his team in the coming years.

Pay the $$$ for good assistants, that's where you win titles.

Actually, nowadays, pay the $$$ for an army of 'support' staff. That's where you win titles.

Unfortunately, less than a dozen programs can do that, which is why we've entered the era of the same programs winning titles every year.

I would argue that's nothing new. Only 19 programs have multiple AP national titles since they were first awarded in 1936. Beyond that, it's 8 one-year flukes.

A small group of traditional powers winning all the titles has been the norm since it was Harvard, Yale & Princeton running sh*t back in the Flying-V days...

BlakeJames stated that after that game he didn't have a choice. Up until then UM was still in the "evaluating" mode. With that said it seemed pretty evident the booster had already had their fill.
58-0 just expedited the process

WGAF? If it aint't us, it don't matter. F@ck Dabo and f@ck clemzon and f@ck all those cuck slurpers who wanna fawn all over some little peon *** program having their little sun shines on a dogs *** moment. Their time is coming...

It's always the fans who get coaches fired.

Don't listen to the crusty old man rhetoric about some secret group of wealthy guys who suddenly gave a **** about football. They gave a **** about the fans aka the money disappearing and the fans openly revolting and turning them into a national laughingstock of incompetence.

Those crusty old fvckers don't give a rat's squirt about football. They care about money and their egos, both of which our diehard fans were slaughtering with our vicious and unrelenting anti-Folden rampage.
