OT - Chan Gailey to the Dolphins as OC

What?

Burrow is not worthy of the #1 pick?!

No- I don't think he is. He's a great college QB in a spread system. His WRs are much better than most of the DBs covering them. I would not use the #1 pick on him. I just don't see him anywhere close to as talented as Trevor Lawrence. A team picking him #1 is going to be awful (hence having the #1 pick). I don't think he is talented enough to elevate a bad team whereas I think Lawrence could. If the Browns got a mulligan, do you think they take Baker Mayfield with the top pick?

That's assuming whoever has the top pick would ever give it up. You can't assume that ever.

Anyone who assumes it has no clue. If Lawrence remains healthy and is rated similarly to today, there basically is no price. Well, you could offer 4 first rounders and be laughed at.

The Dolphins don't have enough ammo to move into that #1 slot for Lawrence even if every 2020 pick were transferred to 2021 and all the 2021 picks retained also.

As I've mentioned, the NFL owns such disparity right now that a 13-3 team is a third seed, and only twice since 2003 has every team in the league won at least 3 games. So if you start from that baseline it's going to require 0-2 wins to earn the top pick. That is the burden. As inept as the Dolphins were this season they weren't close to 0-2 win bottom line. Now just imagine any franchise in the running for Trevor Lawrence and how they'll approach the final month or 6 weeks, if Lawrence is the prize as long as they don't ***** up. You'll have more examples like the Bengals benching Dalton for half a season and playing a joke rookie like Ryan Finley.

That single move to drop Dalton in favor of Finley potentially changes the Bengal franchise for a decade or more. That's why it is hilariously clueless around here -- and elsewhere -- when posters get stuck in tunnel vision and ridicule the tank in favor of fluff like a winning culture.

The Dolphins signed Chan Gailey today. There's your wonderful culture. As I posted a couple of days ago, are the Dolphins going to sign Shaq or Lebron in free agency? No, they are signing Chan Gailey. Nothing within that past month of the season meant a **** thing. It requires nothing in this league to win 5 games. To separate season after season you need the elite quarterback. The Dolphins were in amazing favorable expectancy at 0-7. Now they are merely one of many irrelevant franchises who are forced to make dozens and dozens of astute decisions year after year instead of having that booster rocket at quarterback.

I'll still root for Tua to be there at #5, and for nobody to jump ahead of the Dolphins. But if Tua has good recovery prognosis it's difficult to imagine that nobody else would move ahead. The franchises aren't going to be dumb enough to devalue Tua similarly to message board garbage.

If Tua's gone then Jordan Love is most intriguing. He's quite the project but with huge upside. Love is going to dominate the combine-type workout process and totally change how he is viewed right now. Basically a Josh Allen type but with greater variety and accuracy and a better swing, to borrow a golf term.
