My reactions:

(1) Is this fake news?

(2) You mean to tell me The U funded an entire hockey team before it funded an IPF for a football program with 5 NCs? SMDH.

Ah well. You learn something everyday. I wish them the best. GO CANES!

no its not fake news.

funding a hockey team isn't very expensive considering the team pays for most of the costs via fundraising and sponsorships. Also, The hockey team has won a national championship in the past decade. The only program at the school to do it.

Miami has a hockey team? Since when? We didn't have one when I was there a decade ago.

yep. it's club hockey. they were roller hockey when you were in school and changed over to ice.

That makes sense.

I like hockey. Good sport. I like any sport basically as long as it isn't soccer.

Hockey is a better sport when it's played on bigger international ice rinks though. It's not as good when it's played on the tight NHL/Canadian rinks. The international game is faster and involves more passing and puck skills. The NHL game is crammed in to a little box.

We made a mistake in this country when we started to play hockey that we adopted the Canadian rinks. It's a different game and IMO, it's not as good.

it's not under athletics. it's a club sport that's paid by student activity fees, donations, fundraising, and sponsorships. zero bearing on the athletics budget.

it's more impressive that the foundation of the team was built by the students. no scholarships or hockey-specific recruiting. they're just regular kids that want to play hockey and represent the school.

not to take away from hockey's accomplishment, but the diving program has produced several ncaa national champions in the last decade, including one last year.

those are individual. I don't believe they have won a team national championship.

Very cool man. Thx for explaining.

Hey guys. I know it's 2 weeks away, but this is our biggest event of the year. The Nova Cool Cats (a hockey team for kids with autism) is flying down and will be honored before the game. We are also going to be raising money for them. We need a crowd for this one. So if you are curious about Canes Hockey, THIS is the game you need to come to.
