OT: Canes Hockey 2016-2017 Schedule

I know there has been a thead or two about the hockey team in the past so wanted to post the schedule and talk about the team a bit. We just moved our home rink from Kendall to Pembroke Pines Ice Arena and are hoping to get some good crowds for the games this year. If you like hockey, you should come out to a game. We are trying to have cheap beer sold outside the rink so people can tailgate a bit and will do other special event nights throughout the year. We have a good program and won a National Championship back when I was a senior in 2011. We are currently a DIII team team that plays in the Southern Collegiate Hockey Conference. Just to get ahead of it because the question is always asked, no, we aren't a NCAA team with scholarship athletes. However, there is still a lot of talent in the league and there is some very good hockey to be seen. We are hoping to make this a fun and cheap experience for Canes fans and we are in the process of getting some official merchandise on the shelves at Caneswear. Hope you guys come out and support our team.

What would it take for you guys to become an official NCAA team and play against Division 1 competition?

I follow the team on the facebooks. Best of luck to you guys this year. I play in net and would love to get my hands on a goalie-cut Canes jersey.

yup. it's just not going to happen. though I have no doubt we could put together a top 20 program in a decade just because every kid would want to play down here.

send me a PM with your info. I think that can be arranged. We got a ton of different Ice Hockey jerseys and I'm sure I could get you one of the old roller hockey ones if you need something lighter.
 
Quick question, would you be able to provide info as to where the "away" games will be played at various schools? For instance, for playing @UCF, I have gone to see the team play at the RDV Center (it was a tournament), and I'm not sure whether UCF plays on campus or at RDV.

I'll have to get that info for you. It's my first year on the staff so I don't know all the locations of away rinks yet.
 
quick update on the team. We were able to get tryouts done before the storm and have a good roster this season. Unfortunately we haven't been able to practice since announcing this year's team and the first 4 games were postponed. We should be back up and running next week and will kick off our season against UCF in Orlando

The games against UCF next weekend will be at the RDV Center
 
It's finally here. The home opener is this weekend Friday night at 8:00 and Saturday night at 7:00 against ECU. Tickets are $6.00 or you can watch the game from the attached bar. Watch the football team kick the crap out of FSU on TV and then turn in your chair and watch some Canes hockey right after. It should be a fun weekend, hope you guys can come out and show some support.
 
Miami has a hockey team? Since when? We didn't have one when I was there a decade ago.
