OT-Butch piece on FIU

wtf is this thread honestly?

christ almighty how the FCK can you be a miami fan and hate butch

some of you need to look in the mirror

I don't worship butch, but I know a great coach when I see one. He might have his shortcomings, but so does every coach.

You people talking **** about him have something wrong with you mentally

A lot of Larry Coker fans I guess.

Butch led the Browns to 9-7
Saban led the Dolphins to 9-7.
Huge advantage there.

Cleveland was an expansion team. And has not made the playoffs since then....to compare the talent of the Browns to the dolphins is ridiculous. Saban was a failure who had a losing record after 2 seasons...couldnt handle it like a big boy and ran away from the NFL.

Nobody hates Butch. We hate the unrealistic whining about bringing him back. It will never happen. He wasn’t even next in line without Richt. His interview was only to please the fans.

I love Butch Davis and I supported him through probation in the 90’s. The same people flying banners then are the same creaming their pants for him now.

Saban was a failure who left for Bama but Butch wasn’t when he got fired. Got it.

The Dolphins has so much talent they’d go 1-15 the next season

If Butch Davis never left he would’ve been fired by now and my eyes would’ve been saved from having to see you delusional *** groupies constantly mentioning him on this website.

The greatest NFL coach ever makes 7.5 million a year while Saban makes 11 million a year. What a loser move...

Belichick makes more than $10 mil a year and many believe it to be around $12.5 mil per year.

LoL...keep believing that if UM would've reached out to him, he wouldn't have came.....that's Hysterical...
Dude face it butch isn't coming back .and if you read that piece it did say butch said miami wasn't an option for him then.time to move on there's plenty of other coaches out there that are just as good as he is we just need to find one.

UM NEVER approached Butch from 2001-2018 about coming back....NEVER happened....Stop the BS....Did Butch have interest in coming back??....Yes....Absolute Fact....Several times....One of Butchs closest friends is BOT Honcho Dimare....UM NEVER offered Butch the HC job in 18yrs...Know the facts, like I do....Know the facts like Brooklyndee does, who played for Butch...or kindly STFU....

Speaking of that between Saban and Butch which one of them led an NFL team to the playoffs..... I'll wait....

Yes, I would much rather be 0-1 in the NFL playoffs than have six national titles and be considered one of the greatest coaches of all time. Butch for the win. That's why he's on a school bus headed for Bowling Green, Kentucky today.

Yeah, looks like Butch won the whole post-NFL contest.

Hey stupid I never said um approached butch.all I've said was the article itself had butch saying at that time miami wasn't an option.I agree butch is one of the best at evaluating, developing talent.but game planning is suspect several games when he was a hc prove that too many to name here.

Yeah because every NFL Head coach wants to leave the league to become a college coach...GTFOH. Dude couldnt handle being a loser and quit like a *****...
As an nfl coach saban sucks but so have a lot of other coaches.difference is saban will leave bama as the best coach ever in college football 6 championships and counting no one else can come close.your great grandchildren will know who saban is.

Thanks Twhiz for actually reading the two articles I dropped on here where butchs own people said he wasn’t interested in a return to UM in 2006 and that UNC was the perfect job for him at that time. Unlike a bunch of these Whiny butch homers on here that can’t even face the reality of what the man actually said out of his very own mouth. Smh I liked butch regardless of his in game shortcomings and yes he was a great evaluator and developer of talent which led to 2001 which was the greatest CFB team in history. would I have loved for butch to come back in 2006 after only being out of coaching for 2 years, **** yea I would have because he sure as heck was night and day better then the 3 bums we had after he left. And I think he could of possibly led us to another title at that time. But to say he was the best option 10 years later after he had been out of coaching for almost 5 years is just asinine!

Pre-season motivation
In 2000, Miami was shut out of the Orange Bowl BCS National Championship Game by the BCS computers. Despite Miami beating Florida State head-to-head that season and being higher ranked in both human polls, it was Florida State, and not Miami, that BCS computers selected to challenge the Oklahoma Sooners for the national championship (Oklahoma would win, 13–2). This was because Miami had lost to #15 Washington 34–29 on the road, while the Seminoles' lone loss was on the road to the #7 team in the country by 3. The experience led[citation needed] to alterations in the BCS rankings system to ensure that the situation would not repeat itself in the future. Nevertheless, Miami was left with a bitter sense of disappointment, believing they had been deprived of a shot at a potential national championship. That off-season, the team resolved to take the matter entirely out of the discretion of the computers by going a perfect 12–0. However, they had to do so under a new head coach, Larry Coker, who was named to the post after Butch Davis left to become head coach of the NFL's Cleveland Browns.

The 2001 Miami Hurricanes are considered by many experts and historians the greatest team in college football history.[1] The Hurricanes scored 512 (42.6 points per game) points while yielding only 117 (9.75 points allowed per game). Miami beat opponents by an average of 32.9 points per game, the largest margin in the school's history, and set the NCAA record for largest margin of victory over consecutive ranked teams (124–7).[2] The offense set the school scoring record, while the defense led the nation in scoring defense (fewest points allowed), pass defense, and turnover margin.[2] Additionally, the Hurricane defense scored eight touchdowns of its own. Six players earned All-American status and six players were finalists for national awards, including Maxwell Award winner, Ken Dorsey, and Outland Trophy winner, Bryant McKinnie. Dorsey was also a Heisman finalist, finishing third.

Among the numerous stars on the 2001 Miami squad were: quarterback Ken Dorsey; running backs Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Najeh Davenport, and Frank Gore; tight end Jeremy Shockey; wide receiver Andre Johnson; offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie; defensive linemen Jerome McDougle, William Joseph, and Vince Wilfork; linebackers Jonathan Vilma and D.J. Williams; and defensive backs Ed Reed, Mike Rumph, and Phillip Buchanon. Additional contributors included future stars Kellen Winslow II, Sean Taylor, Antrel Rolle, Vernon Carey, and Rocky McIntosh. In all, an extraordinary 17 players from the 2001 Miami football team were drafted in the first-round of the NFL Draft (5 in the 2002 NFL Draft: Buchanon, McKinnie, Reed, Rumph, and Shockey; 4 in 2003: Johnson, Joseph, McDougle, and McGahee; 6 in 2004: Carey, Taylor, Vilma, Wilfork, Williams, and Winslow; 1 in 2005: Rolle; and 1 in 2006: Kelly Jennings).

Overall, 38 members of the team would be selected in the NFL Draft
Who found this illustrious team??....
