OT: Brian Kelly

If Urban Meyer comes knocking on the door, you listen. Outside of that, I’d keep the guy who’s been to playoffs..

Twice.

First off; why is this an OT on a Miami board? Second; fck ND and their WWII high horse they’ve been on like they are some standard of excellence.

ND is slightly better than Army, Navy, Princeton, Harvard, Yale, and all those pre integration schools that won a lot when competition was on black & white TV and the radio.

They are paper champions from ‘88 that needed 3 Hail Marys, and a ref who was a poster child for Lens Crafters that got paid by the Irish Mob to blow a call that would’ve put us as Nat’l Champs. Notre Dame hasn’t been chit since 1977, and I refuse to acknowledge their title in ‘88. Fck them, and unless the OT was about Kelly towel whipping boys in the locker room, and should be locked in the same cell as Sandusky, get this chit outta my face.

Miami v ND is great rivalry when both programs are winning. I'd love for both programs to be back on top and play regularly. Kelly seems perfect for ND. What a punchable face.

He murdered a teenager because filming practice in hurricane force winds was more important than the kid's safety.

Well, it got your attention enough for you to post . . . or did someone else crash your account?

Just asking . . .

This dude's actually one of the best HCs in college football. This ain't 1970, and ND ain't what it used to be on the recruiting front.

No, no he’s not.

In half of his 10 seasons at ND, he’s finished with 4 or more losses, including a 4-8 season.

ND might not be what they once were—but they still have pretty much the most lucrative individual TV deal and one of the richest alumni/fan bases in the nation. So the only reason they aren’t what they once were is because their coaching and talent evaluation and development has been mediocre for a couple decades.

Kelly’s an improvement over the Davie/willingham/Weiss years, but it’s ludicrous to put him among the best HCs in football.

Manny vs Brian Kelly is laughable. It’s actually depressing if you think about Manny’s first year vs the success Kelly has brought ND who has been dormant since the 80’s.

Not really "richest," they just have an enormous fan base. It's a smaller school than Miami in terms of undergrad enrollment, meaning the alumni base is not exactly loaded (collectively).

They really don't have the kind of coin (from the alums) a program like Texas, Ohio State, Florida, et al have. To what extent merch and eyeballs bridge that gap, I couldn't really say.

Dude, you’re kidding yourself.

All old-money catholic families in NYC, Boston, Chicago, and across the country have at least some members who are huge ND donors. They are perenially among the top 10 richest CFB programs.

UM is NOTHING like ND In terms of alumni base or overall wealth.

That purple faced douchebag is "safe" at ND as long as he keeps winning 8+ games every year and covers up any indiscretions to not make the school look bad.

People forget...he's responsible for the death of a student!

Good God, man, this is an absurd thing to think, let alone say. What universe have you been living in?

ND is one of the most prestigious universities in the world, the alumni base is powerful and well connected, and I’m pretty sure they are in the top 2 for largest endowment of any P5 school (possibly behind Stanford). And in that regard, they dwarf any of the schools you named. For example:

Endowments

Notre Dame: $13.8 Billion
Ohio State: $5.3 Billion
Texas: $4 Billion
Florida: $1.8 Billion

Also, despite being a small private school and not having any conference affiliation, they have on of the most recognizable, powerful brands in all of sports, and I’m willing to wager a good glass of Whiskey ND‘s football program is easily in top 7 or 8 in both revenue and profits....and possibly as high as top 5.
