OU Boards saying done deal. We'll see.
Yeah but we need a new AD too so that’s even more weeks.Impossible:
U need at least 4 weeks to find a new coach.
We hired Manny in 12 hoursImpossible:

Clemson misses out on the acc Atlantic crown (and the ACC championship) for first time in forever.
Venables, who many fans thought would never leave Clemson, looks to be leaving
Now would be the time that UM could lock down the ACC, but we are going to blow the opportunity due to the BOT incompetence
Buyout drops on November 33rd soo it’ll happen thenImpossible:

tressel is a university president now. he isn't going to give that up.Shew the ACC is going to be brutal. He was a top 2 or 3 highest paid assistant in America. Wonder who they would pursue to replace him?
Muschamp, Schumann, Knowles, Tressel, Arnett, etc seem to be most likely for that kind of money.. but it's been so long since Dabo has gone external for anything - I think Venables was the last coordinator he's hired that wasn't an internal promotion. Even position coaches have mostly been internal.
Their last external hire for an on-field role was Todd Bates from Jacksonville State in 2016 and before that it was Mike Reed in like 2013.
Everyone else has been original staff or come through as an analyst to the on-field role.
Wow, if that's true, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near South Carolina for the next few weeks.Wait till Dabo to LSU is announced.
Would be a bad hire IMO, Venables is a lifelong coordinator type.
He’s a Bob Stoops disciple & was there for 12 years before he went to Clemson, but this is basically Oklahoma’s version of going “all Miami bro!”.
The logic is, since they’re going to the SEC that they’ll need a more Defensive minded HC & due to his time at Clemson is a good recruiter in the South.
However, this is sign that Oklahoma as a program isn’t as highly thought of as imagined, they should be able to land a big time HC, settling for a DC signifies they’re not trying to spend a lot of money & they’re expecting to be a mid-level team in the SEC.
They’re basically trading in the Ferrari for a Ford Fusion sedan.
Mike Tressel from Cincinnatitressel is a university president now. he isn't going to give that up.
