OT: Athlete Toughness

No question. They are certainly pretty tough. I love the fact that they can fight too, but yes MMA fighters just take it up a level. I see these types of posts(OPs videos) floating all over the internet and I laugh to myself since these types things are somewhat common in Hockey, but in combat sports it happens on a regular basis and often times are much more brutal.

That cup here is filled with urine not cranberry juice. lol.

Denis kept taking punishment on that eye even after it looked like this and just kept pushing forward.

and like you said the MMA guys are on another level.
Here is one of the fights I went too. Second row, been going to sports games all my early life by far I have never heard a louder crowd not even close. Oh That old Boston Garden, lol. Vito had a massive amount of stitches in both fights with Hagler, the 1st one he said he had 75 on the east side boxing site, the second he looked much worse. The first row people were getting sprayed. lol I watched Hagler train many times, nobody worked harder. And ***** that ***** Leonard who had to have pillow gloves, bigger ring to run and no 15 rounds. Hagler wanted that fight so bad he gave in to everything. MMA is much more brutal. Vito was a bleeder. I've had a pretty good life for a bum. lol

That is awesome! I would have loved to see that live. I could only imagine how loud it was there. I used to love east side boxing. Wish they didn't close it down. Hagler was a tough dude. The war with Hearns is still one of the craziest fights I have ever seen. I know you did lol, great life. You have seen more than probably 99.999% of the world.

That is the thing a lot of people don't realize. They think fighters are tough only because of what they do in the ring, but no other athletes come close to training as hard as fighters.

Yup that Hearns fight was probably one of the greatest. Those people who saw that one live got a show they'll never forget.

I never got to see it live, but I have seen the video of it many many times. I can't even begin to imagine how insane it would be going there live and witnessing that first hand. Every single one of them left that night, knowing they where apart of history.

In terms of a brutal fight, I still think the Thrilla will always be at the top of my list. Two guys that hated each other, fighting in a 110 degree arena.

"They told me you was all washed up Joe." Ali said during the fight.

Frazier snarled back, "They told you WRONG pretty boy!"

After Fraziers corner threw the towel in before the final round, Joe Frazier fired his trainer Eddie Futch and never spoke to him again. It was found out later that Ali was telling his corner to take the gloves off; he was done.

Both needed two weeks in bed to recover, Ali was ****ing blood to the punishment Frazier gave him to the body.

I watched Gatti/Ward I, and Morales/Barrera II. Both fights were also very good.

Leonard/Duran I, think it was the Brawl In Montreal. Another good fight. Respected Leonard for not running away.

Tyson/Holyfield I was pretty good too. RIP Mitch Halpern, one of the great referees you've never heard of.

Toughness is up to the individual, not the sport. Just my opinion.

Joe Frazier was as tough a man as anyone around, and he fought legally blind in one eye most of his career. Always was a big fan of guys like Smoking Joe, Ken Norton, Jack Lambert, Scott Stevens and Ricky Rudd.

Guys who fought, raced and played hurt because there was no other thing to do but that.
Jack youngblood played a super bowl with a broken leg

MMA.

I'm starting get into this a lot more, and no other sport has this level of pound-for-pound maniac. I watched this dude Covington get his jaw broken, calmly tell his corner about it, then go another 10+ minutes and finish the fight. And he wasn't just trying to survive either, he had a few moments where he landed some shots.

The guy's face looked like ground beef and his jaw was hanging off and he wouldn't quit. Every other sport is competing for second place.

bruh; y do u post long *** rants? Lol. Blood, if u gonna give a dissertation, pls break it down into 3-4 sentence paragraphs. I’m sure ur making fine points, but my g....ain’t nobody got time for this. Lol.
I don't know at all what the difference is between is between my responses and; What every article that every established business displays when its in a form similar to a text book. Its one hundred percent clear to me that if.. If I was some television and/or movie celebrity, or even just some famous athlete.

You would have no problem reading every word of my - own spin on the topic being discussed. Like, literally. What I just typed is the typical article that the well established aka big business sports entity uses as a format. The only difference is I'm not some run of the mill "Fifteen Minutes of Fame" individual. I know for a fact as I am very good at reading anyone no matter the personality through / texts or in person especially. Even through some form of text and/or stupid social media tweet or whatever when;

Any type of individual is just stuck up or just straight up ignorant. Where they act like the person is understanding someone else's point of view, but it just goes in one ear and straight out the other ear.

And to be perfectly honest @Rellyrell ; Not just you [In any walk of life]. If I was talking to you in a face to face manner and if I was being ignored because of some b.s. ignorance. If I could get away with it, best believe I'll try my hardest to bludgeon a weak little man to the point of wishing they were dead. But that whole being anonymous soft bluff guy stuff is just the definition of being a two-faced ***** aka the word - narcissist. Social media and that stupid selfie camera cuck stuff though. You took the time to quote my entire twist of the same topic though.

When you brought up boxing the other night it got me thinking about things I've done in my life. Unfortunately I was up till 4 in the morning and had to get up at 6am lol. Had to drive 300 miles to Vegas to take care of a few things. We're right across the street from mccarren airport right now I'm a zombie. I have a funny story I'll share when I get back.

Looking forward to it brother!

Every sport the ones who are considered the best are in my opinion just tougher then those who might barely get any playing time. Besides the pain tolerance to be on the field / rink / ring etc more, they also have the ability to adjust to the higher pressured games. Like Lebron James is more like Magic Johnson the comparison was with his pass first tendency but critics compare him to Michael Jordan because of the athleticism.

& Allen Iverson had a press conference where the media asked him about not practicing & he was like why bother pretty much his sentiment. Plus he grew up most likely watching teams and players like the Detroit Pistons who would throw Jordan to the floor and what not; And when he played there where the centers like; Shaq, Tim Duncan & David Robinson, ****mbe Mutombo etc etc. Plus I never really payed to much attention to the rules that allowed for hand checking.. But I'd imagine they could practice but between the centers that would try to prevent every lay-up and dunk, no amount of practicing jump shots would be worth it for a majority of the older generation.

The most skilled professional athlete is Muhammad Ali to me though. From that phantom knockout with Sonny Liston, I doubt a old school boxer like that would just throw a fight. And then you take into account that the people in the actual arena couldn't really tell with everyone in agreement what really happened. Plus that fight with George Foreman that Ali used the Rope A Dope" to win. The clip I saw Ali let Foreman back him in the corner & pretty much was smiling and laughing at him. You would think George Foreman known for his punching power would worry Ali enough but; Muhammad Ali didn't even bother to clench his jaw shut. Overall though the toughest & skilled, person ever known for anything associated with a sport is - Bruce Lee.

Like the movie - Enter The Dragon based on his life. There is that scene where the opponent Bruce Lee just beats him & the he gets cheap shotted in the spine. But it was supposed to cripple him to a point that the scenes portrayed he would never able to push himself in a wheelchair. Plus those written accounts of him kicking another adult, ten to fifteen meters in the air to a point that they end up that distance away from Bruce Lee; I doubt his family would lie about what is portrayed just to make him appear cooler. How they were so quick to denounce Tarantino and his mockery of a hollywood movie about him.

To me there's a real definitive reason that all time legends loved and respected him enough to want to train / associate with the man.. Whether it be men like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Muhammad Ali stating on the record he utilized what he learned from Lee to [Intercepting Punch]. The documentary video I watched, Ali said after he used the fighting concept to win a boxing match. Ali said he never lost another match for the rest of his career in the heavy weight division. And all the others involved in the sport of anything boxing / combat sports; Myself [You] can see they way the person talking about Bruce Lee knows to that person themselves with one hundred percent confidence - Bruce Lee is a person that transcends every so called greatest.

You doubt an old school boxer like that would throw a fight? LMFAO!!! Everyone was throwing fights in those days. Your Bruce Lee comment means you know nothing about fighting. Bruce Lee is nowhere close to the toughest or most skilled fighter in his era. Let alone ever.

So I guess all these current men who are considered the best at their profession just like acting like liars when they appear on record? Jon Jones, Chuck Norris, Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Muhammad Ali, Dana White - the ufcs currents boss; These particular individuals aren't the type just to lie to get more social media 'keyboard warrior followers.

This and that; Literally / Muhammad Ali himself on the record for the television media to write down for history stated. He used the teachings of Bruce Lee and his intercepting punch, fine tuned by Bruce Lee. And the first fight Ali adapted the style he won the fight & never lost a never professional boxing match.. Like little kids act like all these all time great "Sports Athletes" just make up stuff for a pat for themselves on their backs.

Kareem Abdul is a basketball player so I don't really care about his opinion on Bruce Lee. Chuck Norris owes his fame to Bruce Lee so he is incredibly biased. Ali and Jones would have destroyed Bruce Lee and Dana white just said he was the first guy to mix martial arts in the modern era(which isn't true since Jack Dempsey did it way before him). he never said he was the most skilled. Anyone that knows anything about MMA knows Bruce Lee would get obliterated in even mid level pro MMA events.

Says the guy who it appears to be, you live and breathe to post text messages on a website about the Miami Hurricanes.. And your such a fan of the hurricanes, your alias only involves the Florida gators.

I guess all the written down in text books accounts about Bruce Lee

And him kicking a grown man with such force and power that the person lands - ten to fifteen meters away from where Bruce Lee connected the one kick is just to pump up a another man.. You do realize that is the equivalent of around, thirty three feet all the way up to about fifty feet? I doubt any man today in boxing, mma, or any professional sport can do that with just one kick. And he garnered that type of respect when his reported weight was only around / 135 pounds.
