Got word today he’s one of two incoming freshman awarded a Legacy Scholarship, for academic standing and being a legacy at Miami. Nice surprise. Congrats to him.
Great idea. Kick a couple grand to each legacy, keep it going. People at Miami like to talk about the U “family”. Put up some money.
I think the idea is for the university to attempt to further demonstrate a commitment to the other legacy kids like mine. I wonder out of a class of 2000 freshman, how many are legacies? When I make my next 20 mil, I'll drop 2 mil into the U Family.

That isn't how a university works.
Lol it's literally exactly how most universities work my dude. That isn't how a university works.
Actually, it is absolutely how some universities, particularly private universities, particularly Ivy League universities, have worked for centuries. George W. Bush got into Yale solely because he was a legacy.
The issue is not admission, it is paying for the tuition once you have been admitted. Legacies should get a "discount" on UM tuition.
It's not a bad idea to give something back to the alums. Who knows, it might actually inspire us to donate more money to our alma mater.

I knew a girl — not very smart — who applied to Northwestern as a priority legacy, as one of the school libraries is named after her grandfather or great grandfather. They actually rejected her and even noted her family connections in the rejection letter.
More my thinking here. Admission to Miami wasn’t the issue for my son. It was a pleasant surprise for them to recognize his academic achievements and also that his old man did his undergrad work there and he has an aunt with an undergrad and law degree from MiamiActually, it is absolutely how some universities, particularly private universities, particularly Ivy League universities, have worked for centuries.
