I don't watch them so I was wondering is their defense similar to any other defense we saw this year? What team do they compare to?

I know everyone is trolling... But from what I've been reading and hearing, they have like 4 players on defense thats locked for the 1st round. 2 of them is being talked about as top 10 talents (Downs and Reese)...

The closest team to compare TALENT wise that we've faced would be ND
I just wanted to know what team we played is similar scheme wise

I’d say it’s ND and A$M combined on their best day.

But if I’m being honest:

DL: Miami
LB: OSU
DB: wash, our corners are better and somehow their safety’s are better.

The difference is going to be QB play.

Beck is one of the worst QBs in college with Pressure. Thankfully we have an amazing pass protection built line. But he is going to have to play his best game including the rest of the playoffs if we are to win. That means zero turnovers and having two hands on the ball when moving up in the pocket like he didn’t do against A$M. That means hitting the throw to jojo. That means recognizing their LB and Safety blitz packages. Our season is riding on him and Dawson calling a screen pass out of the backfield for the first time all year.

I dont think their talent is like 2003 canes are anything like that. I think their defense is very simplistic so the players play really fast and know what they are doing. I think we have to just physically abuse them. Fancy stuff is not gonna fool them. I would love to be proven wrong.

They really did not play anyone great during the regular season so it is difficult to tell from highlights. The one team that did give them trouble in the first half was Penn State. Their Backs looked pretty good on toss plays, some jet sweeps, end arounds, shovel passes. I think we can emulate some of the things they did with our backs and Malachi and Lofton. Hopefully for 4 quarters.

Against Indiana they looked pretty stout. But still gave up some running plays in chunks. I really do think we have a chance to wear them down if we keep with the run and not stray away from it with gimmicks.

Been a Caleb Downs closet fan since Nick started him as a Freshman at Bama. Kid is definitely a 1st Rounder. They've got some real good LBs too.
